Don't forget it was the generation of people old enough to observe the events of 1914 until the cult lost its nerve and changed it to those born in that year. Fourteen years old in 1914 was the generally accepted limit. That would make them 118 now.

They are all dead!
by Sour Grapes inthe watchtower company and the jdubs talk so nonchalantly about the year 1914, the year they say jesus became king in the heavenly kingdom.
they talk about the year like it was just a short time ago.
the invisible king began ruling in the invisible kingdom.

Another School Shooting: The Gun Violence/Mental Illness Debate Continues
by jp1692 inin the aftermath of the valentine's day school shooting in florida, i have read quite a number of articles, blogs and posts about the event.
it is disturbing--and i think inexcusable--that many people take the opportunity to use horrible tragedies such as this to push their own particular agenda.. in particularly insensitive and tone-deaf tweet, conservative political commentator tomi lahren wrote: "can the left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?
my goodness.

That teachers who are ex-military can't carry guns or even keep them in a nearby drawer
Loaded guns in drawers in schools. Genius!

No Bible = No God?
by menrov insome doubt about the bible completely, some partially.
what if the bible turns out to be a product of humans, nothing divine.
would you still believe in a creator?.

Guru Sathya Sri Baba only died in 1984. His list of 'miracles' including resurrections makes Jesus look like a child's party entertainer.
In one example four men travelled from Australia to visit him in India. As they waited an attendant came out to ask one of them to come in as Sri Baba had a message for him. One of his family back home was ill and he needed to return urgently. He asked him to point out on a map on the wall where he was from. The man pointed to Australia and the guru touched the map which turned into a detailed map of Australia. He pointed again and again in increasing detail until he could identify his home. Then the guru invited him to step through the map and he would be transported immediately to his family.
The man never came back out of the room.
The attendants will testify to this miracle. So will the man's three friends and so will the man himself as will his family.
This happened just a few decades ago. It was recorded within days. The names of the witnesses are known and still alive. How many 'indisputable facts' do you think we could enumerate?
And yet we both know this story is bullshit. Probably based on wishful thinking, exaggeration, lies chinese whispers and self-promotion.
Jesus' body almost certainly rotted in a mass grave or rubbish tip in Jerusalem. His presence with his followers was in the same sense that millions of others vividly feel the presence of dead loved ones. It is a human response to grief and loss. In time the 'spiritual' experience acquired literal details like a muddled story of an empty tomb as one disciple after another vied for the most profound experience of his presence.
The truth is almost always more mundane.

All of them terrified to consult an actual scientific source.
They live in a bubble of ignorance that is matched by their certainty.

Excellent outcome.
It's important that a law firm specializing in family law are aware of these issues. Good work!

by new boy inthere are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.
there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.
here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.

Reading the OP reminded me of Jenna Miscavige's autobiography. She grew up to be a member of Scientology's elite 'Sea Org'. A lot of similarities.

listed some 450 different animal species, including dogs and wolves, as having been observed having homosexual fun and games
Actually homosexual behaviour has been observed in around 1,500 species from insects to mammals, although it is usually more accurate to talk about bisexuality among non-human animals. Very few species are known to exhibit exclusively homosexual behaviour, even when females are available. A few exceptions have been found including some domestic sheep.
Interestingly they show the same anatomical differences in an area of the brain called the hypothalmus that has been observed in homosexual men.

Were These People “Demonized” or Simply Mentally Ill?
by minimus init seems that every congregation had a problem with people being affected by the demons.
looking back i have to wonder was it that more people were emotionally or mentally unbalanced?
or they simply off their medications or were they in need of meds?.

In many cases neither.
They believed in demons and were prone to ascribe agency to all sorts of coincidental events and incidents.
'Shit happens' is less exciting than deemonz.
