Austria Begins Closing Mosques and Deporting Imams
by cofty inaustria, a member of the eu since 1995, is a country of 8.8 million people with a muslim population of around 600,000 mostly turkish immigrants.
in 2015 it passed an 'islam law' prohibiting foreign funding of religious groups and creating a duty for muslim organisations to have 'a positive fundamental view towards state and society'.. many mosques in austria have continued to receive money from turkish muslim organisations so the new right-wing government have decided to enforce the law.
seven mosques have been identified for closure and 60 imams are to be either deported or refused visas.

The Witnesses aren't positive towards state and society.
To be fair they encourage their members to fully cooperate with the governments of the countries in which they live and wait on god to intervene. Radical imams are the exact opposite of that.

The Austrian coalition government came to power following Europe's immigration crisis.

Evolution is a Fact #1 - Protein Functional Redundancy
by cofty ini intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.
there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.
there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

With 10^93 possible functional cytochrome c functional sequences there are only “three possibilities”? - Hooby
Yes. Can you suggest a fourth one?
You imply that if it’s not “random” sequences or “identical” sequences, then it must be evolution!
No I didn't. I said that the third possibility was that 'DNA sequences vary in a pattern that exactly corresponds to the relationships previously identified by evolution'.
This turned out to be the case. It was the most profound piece of evidence for common ancestry.
Why do Evolutionists like to present the argument in ways that are so favorable to evolution?
There is no such thing as an 'evolutionist'. There are just scientists who accept the evidence for common ancestry and superstitious folk who don't.
Life’s hierarchical pattern was recognized by creationist scientists before modern evolutionary theory.
There is no hierarchy of life. No scientist has thought that way for about a century.
There is also no such thing as a 'creationist scientist'. That is an oxymoron like a single batchelor or a well-read creationist.
The fact that cytochrome c sequences conform to this same pattern does not mean that evolution is the only option
Yes is absolutely does. Your failure to understand the significance of the evidence is irrelevant.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake Cake for Gay Couple
by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.
it's also misguided because it ends up strengthening religious rights over effectively stupid issues.. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html.

Scenario 1 - A husband and wife asks the baker to make and decorate a cake with a pro-gay wedding message for the wedding of their son and his husband-to-be. The baker declines the order.
Scenario 2 - A gay couple go into the shop arm-in-arm and ask the baker to sell them a standard off-the-shelf cake. The baker serves them without reservation.
How can any reasonable person accuse the baker of homophobia?

Miss America and Misguided Views on Sexuality
by Simon inso miss america pageant is going to remove the swimsuit and evening gown parts of their pageant because they have decided it's demeaning to women.
i guess it will just be women in overcoats telling us they want world peace .... bravo, we all applaud, right?
maybe we shouldn't be so quick to do so .... what is it really saying?

Feminism ought to be about allowing women to freely choose what they do what they say and what they wear.
Instead it has become about portraying women as helpless victims who need 'movements' to make decisions on their behalf.
I suspect those at the forefront of banning public displays of female beauty have reason to be jealous.

'The bible' does not contain a consistent position on who Jesus was. Read it chronologically, letting each book speak for itself and you will observe a developing Christology.

How many times!
It's nothing like that Fink.
It's exactly like a restaurant owner who will happily serve gay customers but who decides not to hire out his restaurant for a gay wedding reception.
IMO he is wrong but I defend his right to make that decision.
