  If the customer had walked into the shop holding hands with his husband and ordered a dozen croissants the baker would have served him — and been legally compelled to do so.

  You cannot legally refuse to serve somebody because of who they are or because you disagree with their lifestyle. You can refuse to make a product that promotes something that offends your conscience.

  The distinction is simple and very important.

  Please could you engage in a conversation? Tell me why you disagree. Am I wrong to say that the xtian gospel begins with an assertion about the depravity of man? Will Jesus punish those who disagree? Is it wrong to summarise the xtian message as, 'love me or else'?

  This is supposed to be a discussion forum. When did xtians become so shy?

  The Christian gospel has no appeal until it can persuade you that you are thoroughly depraved.

  In a nutshell Jesus' message is - 'you are a worthless piece of shit. Love me or I will torture you forever'.

  The Jesus of the New Testament is like an abusive husband. The gospel is a dehumanising message.

  i intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.

  there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.

  there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

  Imagine a Christian group asked a baker — who supports pro-choice — to make a cake with the slogan 'All Abortion is Murder'.

  Or an atheist group ask a Muslim baker to bake a cake with a cartoon image of Mo?

  Should these bakers have the right to politely decline, or should their refusal leave them subject to prosecution?
