If it was a case of a business refusing to serve a gay couple that would be wrong. But I think it was a business that declined to help with a project that promoted a gay lifestyle. It is definitely the correct decision that nobody should be forced to use their labour to do something that conflicts with their views.

Supreme Court Decision on Free Speech this week
by dropoffyourkeylee inthis week's first amendment case has a slant that may sound familiar to jws.
most are aware that the wt won a number of supreme court decisions in the '40s related to free speech (the first amendment of the us constitution).
in particular, the flag salute case in '39, which they lost, tried to argue that not saluting the flag was a religious issue.

Moral responsibility.
by nicolaou inno subtlety here, it's going to be obvious where i'm going with this.
please consider the following scenario.. you're seated on a railway platform bench waiting for your train.
a high speed intercity is about to hurtle through without stopping when you see a small child running to the platforms edge!

God made everything. He has every right to do as he pleases with his own creation. - Badfish
I agree, an omnipotent creator is free to be an evil monster.
But he can't be an evil monster AND be the god Jesus preached. Choose one.
Your worldview is internally inconsistent.
his ways are higher than ours
He kills infants. He approves of slavery, kidnap, rape and infanticide. His ways are most definitely NOT higher than mine.

I see people that think (delusionally) they are better than God
I am better than god. I don't murder children. I didn't write a book that promotes slavery, kidnap, rape and infanticide.

A child falls into the path of a train, a Submarine crew is crushed to death, a newborn baby dies, you die at 100, none of it matters - DD
THIS is why Christianity is a horrible death cult.

Theists proclaim the necessity of belief (believe or perish) in a god as follows;
- He is immanent (constantly active in the world)
- He created a perfect world for human life
- He is all knowing - nothing escapes his notice
- He is all powerful - he can do anything that is logically possible
- He is the epitome of love
- His son - who is his image - revealed the meaning of god's love in practical concern for others; even his enemies
- He has so much care for his human creation it is as if he knows the very number of hairs on the head of every person
- Nothing happens without his knowledge or consent
Reality - He drowns thousands of infants in tsunamis and crushes them to death in earthquakes every year.
The theist, instead of accepting the god they proclaim to be impossible, indulges in the most tortuous mental gymnastics that amounts in many cases to gas lighting.
I could, and perhaps will, compile a list of some of the best and worst examples of theodicies we have seen in this forum
To say that we just can't understand why god does these things is like saying a best friend - who has been discovered to be a serial killer of infants - might have his own good reasons. As soon as you go down that road you become an apologist for the worst crimes imaginable. Sophistry is the kindest interpretation.

My issue is not just the evil that god allows but the evil that he commits.
God annihilates thousands of innocent children regularly in natural disasters. No amount of SBFs sophistry can excuse that.

In our heart of hearts, we all know the Christian God
One of the most stupid and arrogant lies that theists tell one another.

Consider that Jesus revealed that his Father is love and he both taught what that love means and demonstrated it by example. The love of god, that his followers are to imitate, is to be shown in practical actions to the benefit of others.
Except that reality shows the exact opposite.
It is not so much that evil proves there can be no god - it shows that the god revealed in Jesus cannot exist. The central narrative of Christianity is impossible.

There's no reason for inaction Cofty. Acting to prevent the child's death would incur no penalty or injury to you.
Then there is no possible excuse and the person is morally responsible for a child's death.
I assume you are drawing a parallel with god's abject failure to prevent suffering?
