Any atheists here? Have you come to terms with your new reality?
by kpop inalone, without my safety net of "god" being there to remember me when i die.
after much consideration, examining science, history and using logic, i have come to the conclusion that there is no "god" at least certainly no loving, personal "god.
" shortly before my final conclusion was reached, i read an excerpt from an expression attributed to marcus aurelius, .

I don't understand why your making a personal attack against him.
SBF is hostile to all statements of truth, facts or reasonable certainty.
When you hesitate to affirm that planet earth is not flat it must be really irritating to hear somebody who is comfortable with their evidence-based conclusions.
The god of Jesus does not exist. I am as sure about that as I am about anything. The claims of all theists are wrong; those of diests are just superfluous and uninteresting.
That still leaves an awful lot of things we really don't know, but at least it clears away some of the mess that obscures the search for truth.

I no longer have a yearning for everlasting life or a fear of death.
It is a very real question for me. I have metastatic cancer currently in remission. I am awaiting results of the latest CT scans. Statistically my chances are maybe 30%.
I feel sad at the idea that if it comes sooner or later there are so many things I will never know about. So much will happen after I am gone that I would have loved to see but just by being here for a while makes us very fortunate. We won the biggest lottery just by being born.
Some people feel that unless life its eternal then it is pointless. I don't find much comfort in the knowledge that my atoms will go on. I think the answer is to find contentment in the little pleasures. Live in the moment. Find something each day that you will later remember with a smile. You don't have to change the world to have a life that was worthwhile.

Jehovah's Witnesses View of Jesus Compared to the Early Church
by cofty inthe following is an extract from something i wrote 16 years ago soon after leaving the watchtower.
i am posting it because it may help honest jws consider how far their beliefs are at odds with new testament christians.
if they have "the truth" then their attitude to jesus ought to reflect that of the apostles.

Thanks. I think this approach can be useful.
Personally I would completely avoid verses like John 20:28 and John 1:1. JWs have heard them many times and they have automatic responses to them. Don't try to prove that Jesus was god or go anywhere near the trinity dogma you will end up in a pointless battle of proof-texting.
You can allow them to assume that Jesus was created and subordinate to God and even that the NWT is a perfect translation. That is a lot of common ground to start from.
The OP builds a case for proving that the way JWs relate to Jesus is very different from the early church. That should give an honest JW cause for concern.

It's right there in our faces, how could we NOT see it?
by NikL ini know there have been many many posts on here over the years on the deity of jesus.. i am submitting this one because i am feeling a little confused.. the thing is, i am not the sharpest knife in the drawer and i know this.
so when i am going through my bible reading (to all you haters, yes i still do it) i see so many scriptures that just fly in the face of everything the jws teach about jesus.. i begin to wonder if indeed i am diseased in the mind ,as they will try to paint me, because it seems so plain to me.. i never even gave it a though growing up as to if jesus and god were equal.
i just didn't.. now when i read scriptures like philippians 9.... 9 for this very reason, god exalted him to a superior position+ and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name,+ 10 so that in the name of jesus every knee should bend—of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground+— 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that jesus christ is lord+ to the glory of god the father.. .

"The term Islamophobia was created in the 1990s, when groups affiliated to the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood decided to play victim for the purpose of beating down critics. It is also in sync with a constant push by the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) to turn any criticism of Islam or Muslims into blasphemy...
Being concerned about creeping sharia is not phobic; questioning honour-based violence and FGM in Muslim-majority societies is not phobic. Furthermore, every citizen has the right to be concerned about the safety and security of their country. If they ask questions about radicalization leading to terrorism, that is not Islamophobic, but a reasonable response to the very real threat posed by Islamist terror groups to Canada and all other Western nations. - Raheel Raza president of The Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow and author of Their Jihad — Not My Jihad.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the JW mindset.
The last resort of failed arguments on this forum. "My opponent is just like a JW"

THIS Is How Muslim Mother “Fixes” Rape Of 2-Year-Old Granddaughter By Grandfather
by Hecce insaw this dated 2/26/2017, seems to be from 12/2015.. .
even in a religious culture that advocates the murder of victims as honorable, fathers and brothers are typically the perpetrators of horrific violence against female family members whose only crime was to be the victim of another, the killing of a child by its mother stands out as particularly unnatural and depraved.such a heinous act occurred recently in sohag, egypt when a mother of a two-year-old child took the life of her child rather than protect it from violent sexual assault by its own grandfather.. a muslim mother identified only as “merfat” was awakened by screams in the middle of the night and found her father, faraj, in the act of raping her daughter.. .
rather than acting out of a natural, protective instinct, the 23-year-old mother chose to shield her father from scandal as taught by muslim theology and sharia law.. merfat told authorities that she took her daughter, little grace ahmed, from the grandfather, placed her in a tub and held her head under water until the child drown.. alik akhmim, chief detective of the police in sohag told egyptian reporters that “traces of blood” had been found in the little girl’s anus, evidencing the degree of force and injury the child endured at the hands of her mother’s father.. this kind of act is referred to as an “honor killing” thought to place the reputation of the family above that of any individual member, and which is used to punish the victim rather than hold the perpetrator accountable.. murdering rape victims is common in countries and communities that adhere to sharia law where the crime is rarely reported for fear of exposing the family to shame.. “honor killing” is no longer limited to predominantly muslim countries or the middle east.

Beliefs that we held as JWs - apocalyptic beliefs and beliefs about non-JWs - are like a parasite that corrupts the mind. We should find it easy to understand Muslims.
Some have recovered from the effects of the religion and some were immune. Others have an outward appearance of being healthy.
People should be judged as individuals but sometimes the group they choose to belong to should rightly give us pause.
The key difference is that infected JWs are waiting for god to bring Utopia. Muslims are commissioned to make it happen now by force. Therefore ISIS's ambition for a global Caliphate.
Many of our Muslim neighbours are entirely safe. Mass immigration of young men from countries where fundamentalism is endemic can't end well.
