  it is not uncommon for theists to accuse rational people on this forum of "scientism".. in my opinion it is nothing but a cheap shot from those who know they lack evidence for their beliefs.

  if something like "scientism" actually does exist then i have never encountered it.. here is part of an exchange from another thread - i have brought it here as it was off-topic.... scientism = claim of scientific method being universal and the only valid method of knowledge.

  followers of scientism always demand scientific evidence to anything.

  Semantics are so tedious.

  I could not care less whether some field of knowledge should be labeled as science or not. Few things interest me less. Maybe my definition of science is broader than it ought to be? I don't care.

  The point is that it is entirely reasonable to demand evidence for the extraordinary claims of theists.

  It is irrelevant whether that evidence belongs in the realm of science or not. Theists insist god acts in the physical world. That is open to investigation. Dismissing such reasonable requests as "scientism" is a cop-out.

  UK Memorial attendances up this year?!

  my congregation had around 25 more people at the memorial last night than last year, and the two other congregations i have family in all experienced a similar increase in about 25 more people present.

  umm, i'm surprised, having thought this year would see a memorial decline again.

  Sour Grapes I'm really sorry to hear about your illness. Do you have any treatment options left?

  If I had still been a believer when I was diagnosed I would have found it more difficult to accept the unfairness of it. Everything you have said in your OP is spot-on.

  My suggestion to you is only specify the type of evidence when you're talking about the concept of God.
  Don't say only evidence but qualify it by saying scientific evidence, testimonial evidence, physical evidence, forensic evidence, logical proof, etc..

  I will consider ANY sort of evidence - as I have told you repeatedly.

  But considering your position is very easy to imply you are talking about scientific evidence

  There is your error right there!

  Scientific evidence for god's actions in the physical world would be just one example.

  I have never changed my position on this which is what makes your repeated childish insults so pathetic. Is it that you refuse to read what I write or you are just too arrogant to bother?

  I have never specified any limits on what evidence you might want to offer.

  This thread is not about whether or not you have evidence for God or what sort of evidence that might be.

  This thread is about your baseless accusations of "scientism". So far you have failed to withdraw it or support it.
