  last night i was listening in as my spouse was on the phone line.

  there was a big "local needs" talk announced and it was speculated to be about the congregation reshuffling.. that ended up to be the case.

  i thought i used to lay it on thick from the platform....... this was the ultimate spin job - worthy of political office or a spot on the governing body.. one thing that stood out "while the numbers may not necessarily indicate it, it is clear jehovah is speeding up the work".

  I have not the slightest doubt that Russia is responsible. Either Putin sanctioned this or there are elements operating independently of his power.

  However I think the PM should have waited to have Porton Down's results confirmed by the OPCW. Having said that, she is not wrong. Either Russia did it or Russia have lost control of a WMD and they refuse to cooperate.

  Sergei Skripal had worked as a double agent for British Intelligence MI6 before he was discovered and imprisoned in Russia in 2006. He was later flown to England as part of a spy-swap in 2010. On Sunday 4th March he was discovered along with his 33 year old daughter Yulia close to a shopping centre in Salisbury.

  Since then the story has become increasingly bizarre. A policeman who was first to attend the scene also became critically ill and remains in hospital. Government scientists at Porton Down have confirmed that the cause is a Russian military-grade nerve agent Novichok. Yulia had recently returned from a trip to Russia and investigators are investigating whether something belonging to her had been impregnated with the toxin before she returned to the UK.

  Cars, ambulances, a restaurant, a bar, houses even a recovery truck have been cordoned off for decontamination by hundreds of specially trained troops on British streets. It is the first known deployment of such a weapon in Europe since WWII.

  Putin remains defiant and is denying all responsibility. The response from other Russian officials has been sarcasm and contempt. Britain has ordered 23 Russian 'diplomats' to leave the UK within 7 days.

  Russia has form in this area but it is astonishing that even ex-KGB thug Putin could be so irresponsible. This incident has potential to escalate.

  whenever a hollywood actress has been propositioned or touched up, we know all about it.. but a story - mostly suppressed by the mainstream media - is emerging of far worse abuse of human females.. telford appears to have a grooming/sex abuse scandal of its own to rival the ones in rochdale, oxford and other uk towns.. it appears the msm, police and politicians and other authorities are very slow in learning their lesson from rochdale.. unbelievable that this case hasn't made the guardian or the bbc.. i guess the sisterhood thinks hollywood women are much more important than telford girls.

  There are Muslim pedophiles rings in many UK cities. Nothing has been done because social workers and police have been afraid of accusations of racism and discrimination.

  Most of the victims are young teens in Council care, most of the culprits are Muslim men.

  Most of the culprits are still at liberty, most of the victims are still being abused.

  It is a failure to focus on this issue that has left hundreds of children to suffer years of abuse.

  Three interesting posts jukief.

  Even the majority of atheists are quick to agree to the statement that 'we can't prove god doesn't exist'. I disagree.

  If we define god as the 'god and father of Jesus', and 'prove' in the everyday sense of 'show with objective evidence to be true beyond reasonable doubt', then I am convinced we can prove god does not exist.

  The key is not evil in general but 'natural evil' over which humans have no control.

  We could highlight their religion

  We should highlight their religion. It is the crucial factor.

  It is their religion that teaches them to hold non-Muslim girls in contempt and it was the political correctness of social workers and police that allowed them to get away with it for years. I suspect a similar situation exists in every city with a significant Muslim community. Newcastle-upon-Tyne is one recent example.

  The problem is being framed unreasonably.

  I'm challenging the existence of the god of xtian theism - the god who is love - defined as positive actions in the interests of others, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus and NT writers. I am not arguing against the god of deism or subtle versions of that deity.

  If there was any positive evidence that the god of Jesus existed, but we were faced with the problem of natural evil, then we might propose increasingly unlikely ways to resolve the dilemma.

  We might even end up resorting to desperate arguments such as the 'Rohypnol defense' (god might cause unimaginable suffering but later make it so victims don't remember it) or even the 'four-sided triangle defense' (god might cause unimaginable suffering but later erase history and make a new one where nobody suffered) - if there is a meaningful distinction between these two it is too subtle to matter.

  But unless compelling evidence of this god's existence exists there is no need to sink to such depths of absurdity.
