Is Jesus Christ, Jehovah God? (Not the Father, but Equal to the Father)
by JW Answers injehovah's witnesses,is jesus christ, jehovah god?
(not the father, but equal to the father)what if the watchtower told you about god in a false way, and yet the bible taught you about god in his true character, how would you respond?could it be true, that the watchtower have been leading you up the garden path, describing god in a way that the bible does not describe?
please watch my latest video to help you to see how the bible describes the lord jesus christ, and also within my video, i explain from the new world translation how the bible which the jws use, also describes jesus as jehovah god.

I bet you will say something idiotic like... "Oh that verse should not be in the bible, it was put in by the Catholics..." Says who? It's God's word... stop listening to man.
Why would it be 'idiotic' to point out the simple fact that this verse, 'the Johannine Comma', is missing from the oldest and most reliable manuscripts?
Are you familiar with the ad hominem fallacy?
It's very telling that when somebody points out that the bible contains no clear statement of the Trinity you are forced to resort to a verse that is rejected by the vast majority of scholars. If the doctrine of the trinity is important why did Jesus not state it unequivocally and why did God not preserve this statement?
Please note that I am NOT saying that the bible does not contain many verses that support a view of Jesus as God. The problem is that is also contains many other verse that do the opposite.
You start from one position and then cherry-pick your 'evidence'. The Watchtower does the same from the other side. Both of you are ignoring the inconvenient fact that the bible does not present a coherent Christology.

Healing & Rebuilding Your Life - Feedback Wanted
by jp1692 ini have been invited to speak at an international cultic studies association workshop this fall.
i could use your help in focusing on my presentation subject.. these workshops are for former members of any cult or other high-control, authoritarian group, not just jehovah's witnesses.
last year, i spoke at one of their larger conferences in europe.

JWA - I have no interest in exchanging proof-texts like a JW. I could easily post an even longer list but it would prove nothing because the bible does not present a coherent Christology.
shows your lack of understanding and knowledge towards the scriptures - JWA
My knowledge of the bible, xtian theology and the history and beliefs of the Watchtower is exceptional. If you think that listing dozens of disconnected verses from all over the bible without regard for the original context is impressive, then we are not on the same page.
The trinity is nowhere described in the bible. This is a fact that even the most conservative of knowledgeable christians agree.
1 - Please describe and illustrate the trinity succinctly in your own words without contradicting yourself or committing a heresy.
2 - Perhaps you could also address my question above - why do bible writers refer to 'the God and Father' of Jesus? If Jesus is unequivocally God, how can he have a God?

The mistake you are making JWA, is to assume the bible presents a coherent Christology. If we read the letters of Paul and then the gospel of Mark, then the synoptic gospels and finally the gospel and letters credited to John we see an evolution of doctrine from Jesus a man anointed by God to Jesus the Divine being.
The trinity is nowhere described in the bible; it is a post-biblical construction.
A more promising approach is to show JWs that their relationship with Jesus is radically different from that enjoyed by early christians.

Why is he silent about Russian sanctions? What is he afraid of? He is behaving like somebody who is under Putin's thumb. Time will tell.

Dirt Fishing - Latest Coin Finds
by cofty init's that time of year again when i can get back on the fields with the metal detector looking for ancient stuff.
the first field to be harvested was full of peas - ideal as it leaves no stubble and it's a two minute walk from my house.
it has given up two coins in two visits this week.. the first one is a cut-half silver penny from the reign of henry ii.

Here is tonight's find. It was in the same field as the other two in the OP.
It is a silver penny of James I dating from around 1620. James was the son of Mary Queen of Scots and Lord Darnley. The room in Edinburgh Castle where he was born is visited by thousands of tourists every year. He succeeded to the Scottish throne as James VI of Scotland in 1567 aged 13 months. His mother - a Roman Catholic - was forced to abdicate and flee into England where she hoped to find refuge with her cousin Queen Elizabeth I. Instead she spent 20 years in custody before being beheaded at Fotheringhay Castle. James, who had been raised to believe the propoganda about his absent mother did nothing to assist her.
When Elizabeth died childless in 1603 James, the great-grandson of Margaret Tudor, inherited the English throne resulting in the Union of Crowns. He was crowned James I of England.
The coin has an English Rose on one side and a Scottish thistle on the other.
The inscriptions read ...
I D G ROSA SINE SPINA = 'James by the Grace of God a rose without a thorn'
TUETUR UNITA DEUS = 'May God guard these United Kingdoms'
I haven't posted a pic of the other side as it is in very poor condition.

My father has cancer??
by blisterfeet ini am semi estranged from my jw family.
i am interested in a relationship but it never works.. they aren’t interested at all so we just leave it like that.. i received a text from my half-sister yesterday saying “your dad has cancer, it’s bad, i don’t know anything” i figured there was more to the story and if my dad needed me to know anything he would tell me.

I'm sorry to hear your worrying news. My advice would be to get in touch and express your concern. If it is rejected you have still done the right thing.
Also don't panic. Unless it has spread already there is a very good chance it can be fixed. I went through it the same thing 5 years ago and it later spread to my lung. I'm still standing and symptom-free.
Edited to add - Don't worry about how you are 'supposed' to feel. You feelings have a life of their own. It's what you do that counts.

smiddy3 - I think a couple of the ancient coins I have found might have some value. Condition is everything. As you can see from the pics these two coins only have historical value. I have a threepence of Charles I that is in outstanding condition that I think may be worth a couple of hundred pounds.
Legally finds belong to the landowner but the finder has a 50% claim if anything gets sold. Everything I find is on this estate so we are not planning to sell anything unless I find treasure.
Here is a pic of the coin that might have some value. It was minted in York (EBOR) during the English Civil War by a famous French moneyer called Briot.
