  Well you claim that it is “polytheistic”. So apparently you think that you can describe it, (or part of it) just fine !

  My claim is that it is impossible to describe the trinity without contradicting yourself or resorting to esoteric language. Most attempts to do so end up in heresy.

  It is my contention that christianity is in fact a polytheistic religion.

  Exelder - the point of public conversations on a religious forum is not to change the beliefs of your interlocutor. It is to show to the many silent observers who have left the cult that the dogma of evangelical christianity is as ridiculous as the Watchtower. It may save some a few wasted years looking for an alternative 'truth'.

  Posting on a thread just to say that you are not interested in the thread is hardly helpful.

  anyone who is interested can easily obtain resources outlining and defending Trinitarianism - Hooby

  Why can nobody describe the trinity succinctly in their own words? Could it be because all you will find in every one of those resources is pure sophistry?

  I used to be a xtian Hooby. I read systematic theologies for fun. I am not asking you to defend the trinity or to refer me to a book or website that does so. I am asking you, a christian, to explain the cornerstone of your beliefs as simply and succinctly as possible.

  Why is it so impossible for you?

  Sorry, but I don’t trust your judgement - Hooby

  You don't have to. Everybody who reads your lucid and succinct description of the trinity will be able to judge for themselves.

  As for heresy the main three you have to avoid are Patripassianism, Sabellianism (also known as Modalism) and Tritheism. Most attempts to illustrate the trinity fall into one of these.

  TD - I agree. If belief in the Trinity is crucial for salvation - as most bible-believing xtians assert - it ought to be possible to explain it to your granny.

  If somebody can only state something by contradicting yourself or committing a heresy or using esoteric Greek terms - the meaning of which 99.999...% of xtians don't understand - then it ought to be obvious they are defending the indefensible.

  Christianity is a polytheistic religion.

  i've been aware of this theory for years.

  as interesting as it is - it's still bullshit.. for future reference, i believe the bible to be a collection of fantasy, myth, real locations and crazy ramblings of psychedelic bloke stuck on patmos.. my reply:.
