Fear.
By that I don't mean fear of Islam as much as fear of anti-Islamic violence and social breakdown.
the european court of human rights ruled against an austrian woman who claimed calling the prophet muhammad a pedophile was protected by free speech.
... the woman in 2009 held two seminars entitled "basic information on islam," during which she likened muhammad's marriage to a six-year-old girl, aisha, to pedophilia.. the marriage according to islamic tradition was consummated when aisha was nine and muhammad was around 50. aisha was the daughter of muhammad's best friend and the first caliph, abu bakr.. the court cited the austrian women stating during the seminar that muhammad "liked to do it with children" and "... a 56-year-old and a six-year-old?
... what do we call it, if it is not pedophilia?".

since most people in this group have been taught how to research and fact check with our jw history and getting out, this is a topic that can be constructive to check out.
i stumbled upon this and spent some time researching it, and it's quite interesting.

Well said JeffT.
Edited to add — I enjoyed reading your father's bio. It must be impossible to count the people who have benefited from his work. His Nobel Prize was well deserved recognition.
(Isn't it amazing how almost any idiot can know more than a Nobel Laureate nowadays with just a few minutes browsing a conspiracy website?)

The European Court of Human Rights ruled against an Austrian woman who claimed calling the Prophet Muhammad a pedophile was protected by free speech. ..
The woman in 2009 held two seminars entitled "Basic Information on Islam," during which she likened Muhammad's marriage to a six-year-old girl, Aisha, to pedophilia.
The marriage according to Islamic tradition was consummated when Aisha was nine and Muhammad was around 50. Aisha was the daughter of Muhammad's best friend and the first caliph, Abu Bakr.
The court cited the Austrian women stating during the seminar that Muhammad "liked to do it with children" and "... A 56-year-old and a six-year-old? ... What do we call it, if it is not pedophilia?"
An Austrian court later convicted the woman of disparaging religion and fined her €480 ($546). Other domestic courts upheld the decision before the case was brought before the ECHR.
On today’s ruling, the ECHR said it “found in particular that the domestic courts comprehensively assessed the wider context of the applicant’s statements and carefully balanced her right to freedom of expression with the right of others to have their religious feelings protected, and served the legitimate aim of preserving religious peace in Austria.”
This is the prejudice of low expectations. If some Muslims can't handle some inconvenient facts about their beloved beloved prophet then fuck their feelings. Every magazine and newspaper in Europe should put the facts about the pedophile prophet on their front page in protest.

Translation - I came across this while browsing one of my favourite conspiracy theory forums and spent the next half hour watching videos. I didn't waste a moment researching any facts that might show it to be nonsense.

interview on melbourne (australia) abc radio - regarding watchtower's refusal to "say sorry" (global campaign).
radio host jon faine interviews lara kaputt.
Thanks for the info. It must have been a great experience to get to talk directly to the people who can make a difference.
What do you think the consequences will be for the Watchtower's failure to engage in the process?
this interview had me glued in place because i've never seen a q&a go quite like this.i'd love to hear your thoughts on it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxpgfekem_s&t=973s
Jesse Lee Peterson is my favourite Peterson.
this is such an important issue, more and more people are succumbing to what must be some viral outbreak wreaking havoc in the world.. i'm talking about unnecessary punctuation.. it's easy to become infected.
you want to write something and add some emphasis so you add an exclamation mark to make it "important!
" but dang, it's not important enough is it??
Steven Pinker's book, A Sense of Style is an excellent guide to writing that includes common-sense advice on grammar and punctuation.

Further to TGND's comment, we tend to use single quotation marks in the UK and save double for quotes within quotes.
UK English - ‘The quality of mercy is not strained, it dropeth like gentle rain upon the earth beneath’. — Wm. Shakespeare.
US English - "One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures." — George W. Bush

“the un human rights committee said tuesday that france's ban on the niqab was a violation of human rights, and it called on the government to review the legislation.. france had failed to make the case for its ban, the committee said, giving paris 180 days to report back to say what actions it had taken.
the panel's findings are not legally binding but could influence french courts.. .
In the US, I can't think of any place where it is (in general) illegal to cover your face. It may look odd, but certainly isn't illegal in itself - Sir82
It's not illegal in the UK either. However most banks, Post offices, filling stations etc do require helmets to be removed.

Imagine being told that you will never again be able to smile at another human being outside your own home for the rest of your entire life. That is is the fate of 50% of the Muslim-majority world.
THAT is a transgression of human rights!
