  Did you actually read the bible end to end?

  in my ten years as a witness i never read the whole bible end to end, what with four magazines a month, the book study, meetings and talk preparations, there just wasn’t the time.

  i knew all the important references to ‘prove’ the various jw doctrines, and the cherry picked chapters that help foster the idea that it’s a good book, but that’s not reading it.

  well after nearly forty years out, i decided i would do it.

  Yes read it a few times.

  To be fair it's not all bad. There is some profound stuff in there. You don't have to ridicule the entire thing just to prove your credentials as a secualist. Ecclesiastes, Ruth, Lamentations, some of the Psalms and Job (minus the later intro and ending) are all good examples of ancient literature. Parts of the Gospels are fascinating.

  It is clearly not the work of a supernatural being and it reflects the ethics of Iron Age tribal society.

  Imagine you admired a painting hanging on your friend's wall. He replied that it was a genuine Rembrandt original. Now all you can do is fixate on all its flaws to disprove your dumb friend's lies. That's a pity because previously it had a certain appeal.

  Neighbor teens selling drugs

  not too long ago had a lady and her two teen sons move nearby.

  she had mentioned awhile back how they came from a rough ghetto neighborhood.

  this lady is always screaming and fighting with her sons, so loud, homes away hear it.

  Depends. If you are saying that previously you had a nice quiet neighbourhood and now you have drug addicts coming and going then report it. Otherwise ask yourself what you are hoping to achieve.

  Should calling someone 'Nazi' be made illegal?

  a rabble-rouser called james goddard and a crowd of pro-brexit people called anna soubry 'nazi' recently.. the same crowd also called owen jones a few names.. i don't know these people but they seem to be unsavory people - they were certainly not behaving themselves.. the met police are looking into the matter, to see if the crowd did anything illegal.

  a journalist asked the police officer if calling someone 'nazi' is illegal.

  the officer said 'that's what we're looking into'.. first, this crowd behaved badly, no question.. what i find fascinating, though, is the speed of response from authorities.. calling people fascist or nazi has been going on for decades.

  Flawed Website

  when i first seen this website i actually thought it was a jw website hence the home page and not an ex jw website and i posted a topic thinking people were real witnesses then i quickly discovered it was not and all these people were commenting and embarrassing me and i couldn’t even delete the thread.

  then i asked the admin to delete it and i said it was very misleading saying it’s a jw page and he’s like are you serious i deleted your topic and now you are attacking me and it clearly says ex jw page.

  he was very rude and btw no where does it say ex jw and you should be able to delete your own threads you start.

  sorry for my poor english, i hope to make not too many mistakes.

  im a jw and in the last three years i have studied a lot the topic of the earth being flat.

  i have a good scientific background so im not stupid or crazy.

  I know. We have access to GPS with an accuracy of a few metres. I use it when hillwalking. It doesn't ask me to buy in to any global conspiracy.

  The military can access better data giving accuracy of a few centimetres. Both sets of data depend on precise measurements of the curvature of the earth.

  Do you have a point?

  Can you explain me the hypothesis made by erathostenes?

  No.

  The calculations of a 2,000 year old philosopher might be of academic interest but that has nothing at all to do with how we know the size and shape of our planet.

  We have tools to measure it with astonishing accuracy. I am probably using satellites right now to send data instantly around the earth. We navigate by a network of GPS satellites that depends on precise calculations of the earth's curvature.

  Earthmeasured it is the person who makes extraordinary claims that has the burden of proof.

  Tens of thousands of scientists from multiple fields of research all know that the earth is spherical. You have the arrogance to claim - without any relevant qualifications - that they are all wrong. Nobody here has to provide any evidence.

  JWs are the most scientifically illiterate group of people on the planet but at least they got the shape of the planet right.
