  Being Removed From Facebook and Twitter

  i have a very good friend who has been banned from facebook simply because he makes remarks positive about president trump and negative toward the democratic party.

  he has tried to get back on facebook and it appears there is no way for him to return.

  people are being removed from social media platforms simply because they have a different political view.

  The losing side always blame the media for their own failures. It happened with Indy Ref and with Brexit. It's similar to the way losing football managers always think the referee had a bad day.

  Having said that, it is now beyond all doubt that the print media, the movie industry, TV and social media have a strong left-wing bias.

  Facebook continue to deny responsibility by claiming that they are only a platform. That is not sustainable if they continue to make these editorial decisions.

  prince harry and meghan markle, the duke and duchess of sussex, have stepped back from royal duties and moved to an exclusive enclave of california and into a £11 million mansion (i guess they're slumming it, lol).

  they have recently made several pod casts, featuring themselves pontificating on a range of subjects - blm, 'structural racism', the environment, etc.. while they're free to make whatever content they wish, it does seem ridiculous.. why should i treat harry or meghan seriously?.

  Harry used to be a great bloke but he was without purpose in his life. The media made his army career impossible. He is the spare to his older brother and now they have children he will never be king.

  Meghan has given him a new direction in life. I believe he is totally sincere but has no self-awareness regarding how vacuous he sounds. I wish him well but I wish he would shut up now.

  The Queen has handled it with her usual grace. The monarchy might look like an anachronism to outsiders but it plays a vital role in national unity. We can rage against our political leaders while uniting behind the monarch.

  America told George III where to go - don't blame them for that - but now they are stuck with two tribes who can only scream obscenities at each other.

  OThank you Phizzy. This is fascinating.

  Christianity is derived from an apocalyptic sect of Judaism. If I understand Doug correctly - and Phizzys post - dualism was a product of the Exile. Did the concept of a Messiah even exist pre-Exile, other than in the sense of anointing a king? The belief in a saviour and in an end-time showdown between good and evil seems alien to the OT before the influence of Zoroastrianism.

  Sorry Doug I have been slow on the uptake.

  ETA - I hope I haven't broken forum guidelines by failing to mention Trump I'm this post.

  The "Judaism" of the "Old Testament" is not the Judaism of Jesus and his contemporaries

  This is such an important insight. We tend to compress history. It's similar to the way we in the UK talk about the 'Roman period' in Britain, as if the Romans of the 5th century dressed, talked and worshipped the same way as their forebears who arrived in 43 AD.

  The Zoroastrian influence on Judaism is fascinating.

  By extension, the apocalyptic worldview of JWs - and Evangelical Christianity - finds its roots in Persia.
