Problems with Soccer (Football) from an American Standpoint
by RubaDub inso as not to hijack another thread, just a few comments on why we (americans) find that soccer is generally a boring game to watch.. 1. lack of scoring: american football adjusts the rules periodically so that each team averages around 3 touchdowns per game.
basketball added the three-point line to encourage more scoring.
even traditional baseball has tweaked the rules to encourage more scoring.

Those Germans were running like they were on crack. It looked like they never got tired.

I think England got depressed after being denied that goal. It would have made them feel a lot *cheekier*? Was does *cheekier* mean?

*Shakes head* WTH, that was a goal. I just don't get this soccer officiating.

Palimpset, I checked out that PDF. The PDF represents households and not organized sports. So, I'm thinking this applied to what families played together or did individually. Exercise walking had the highest activity. When I googled number one sport played in America, I got American football.
Table 1212.
Participation in Selected Sports Activities: 2007
[
In thousands (265,381 represents 265,381,000), except rank.
Data are based on a questionnaire mailed to 10,000 households. The questionnaire asked the male and female heads of households and up to two
other household members who were at least seven years of age to indicate their age, the sports in which they participated in 2007, and the number of days of participation in 2007. A participant is defined as an
individual seven years of age or older who participates in a sport more than once a year. See source for methodology.]

Rubadub, I understand American football "off-sides". If someone jumps over the line before the quarterback says hike, he's off-side.
I can't believe they let that guy lay on the ground running the clock down and he hadn't been fouled by anyone; and if he was seriously hurt/sick/what have you, they should of stopped the clock while he got attended to.
I don't even think they stopped the clock when the team ran off the field to celebrate. What is that? Weird?

Palimpset, I think you meant the most popular sport played in "South" America.
Yeah, Simon, I know that it is the most popular sport in the world excluding North America. I tried to get into it, but I don't understand it? What is "off sides"? What foul? The man is laying on the ground and nobody touched him. And when are they going to score???
During the US/Ghana match, I went and played computer games and would check in every now and then to see if someone had scored. It's like the first team that scores wins the game. You might as well quit watching.

What Are Some "Strange" Beliefs Jehovah's Witnesses Have?
by minimus ini think it's fair to say that witnesses' beliefs are often odd.
how they come to a "biblical" conclusion is often unreasonable and far fetched!.
please list some ideas and views that jehovah's witnesses have that are unusual or weird..

Thus Saith the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses on the subject...
If a woman doesn't scream out for Jehovah when being raped, she committed fornication.
Say what? I've never heard or read that.
"Is Rape Fornication If the Woman Does Not Scream?"
The answer, according to the WTS at various times, has been:
YES

Well, there goes the US's fascination with soccer (football).
