You did say she was hardcore JW, right?
Are you sure which way your son will go as far as his treatment of you? Most likely both ways, trying to keep her happy and you happy, which means no one will be happy. It might go your way, and he'll be forced to make a decision for you and his mom and he'll break up with his wife. Or he may decide he has to cut you off entirely if his wife "lays down the law."
My brother would leave the WT tomorrow, but he's passive and his wife has him under her thumb. She's hardcore JW.
Perhaps you could share this thread with your wife and "count the costs" before taking action?

my take is it will draw attention to you, unwanted attention from the elders if you have certain objectives in mind.
Are you trying to avoid the DF or DA label? Is your wife willing to accept the costs DF'ing can bring; total estrangement from loved ones still in, et cetera?

Yes, Xena, I did read why Kismet was leaving. As I said, some people are hurting badly. If I was in a position where I had to stay *underground* because I was still interacting in the JW community, I wouldn't be posting personal information, because a site like this attracts people from the plain nutty status to those who are wise, caring and have the energy to share their wisdom with those of us still healing.

I just remember when I first got out of the Borg I was seething with anger. So when posters go absolutely bonkers, I try to understand.
It's so easy to twist off because your nerves are raw. Of course, this can certainly vary, but many people lost their entire family, all their friends, all in a single moment. I know it can make you angry in the extreme, and it can stay with you a long time. This isn't a place that attracts healthy, healed, balanced, peaceful individuals necessarily.
I see that some posters feel driven off. Is it because they don't want to, or are tired of dealing with the neurotic behavior one should *expect* from people who have been badly hurt by a religious cult? Or maybe they have matured past the point of *needing* to post here? Maybe both?

Why do we need to get along better? I think the question is rather shallow.
People are at different stages of their recovery from the Watchtower.
Some need to scream. Some need to rant. Some need to blow off steam. Some need an intellectual slant. Some need a gentle listening ear and kind support. Some have matured past needing this group and move on.
I have always seen acceptance here even when people have an explosion. There are always some that usually wish them well and encourage them to keep posting. I don't think you could find a better group of people to help you in your healing past the WT experience. There will always be friction here. There will always be healing here. There will always be people here who don't agree with you, and agree with you. Who like you, who can't stand you. Who piss you off, and those who will be your good friends.

those two young american girl tennis players and supposed jw sisters have arrived down under again for this year's tilt at the australian open championship.
yes, the flamboyant venus and serena williams show is back in melbourne town.. after last year when sr venus triumphed at this event, i thought it would be hard for any jw sportsperson to top her ecstatic run around courtside with old glory.
or the way she stood so solemnly and proudly as her nation's national anthem got played after the big win.
There is nothing in the article that says they are baptized. There are unbaptized publishers, and the Williams sisters may simply go out in service because they've been taught to by their mother. If they're not baptized, I doubt the Watchtower will move to take any action against them. Headquarters does not want bad PR. As high a profile as Michael Jackson was, his disassociation was a very quiet matter. Spin Magazine (a music mag) published a detailed account of it, and mentioned the multiple elders meetings that took place regarding Jackson's estrangement from the JWs. You would think it would have merited at least a small blurb in "Watching Da World" in the back of the Awake rag. If the Watchtower is smart, they will say nothing, hear nothing, do nothing. It can only hurt their image at a time when they're numbers are going down. Perhaps the powers that be over the Watchtower have gotten a little wiser when it comes to the way they are perceived by the general public.

my handle: mindchild comes from computer scientist and futurist dr. hans moravec: who wrote the book, the future of robot and human intelligence which is a book about when we will be able to construct machines capable of human intelligence and raises the possibility of uploading ourselves (every thought we ever had) into an android body much superior to the human ones we have now.
i entertain the hope that not only will i live long enough to see this happen, i will transfer myself (the complete essence of what is me) into a body of my own choosing and become immortal if i so choose.
Well, I was "Megadude." It was appropriate since my weight had skyrocketed to nearly 300 lbs. I was a mega-sized dude. LOL. I dropped a lot of weight and changed my handle to JerryTx, ala Jerry from Texas. I knew a lot of JWs in my time and I am trying to make it easier for them to find me if they get out or want to contact me.
