I'd be interested actually. I just attended my first Presbyterian service this morning after going to non-denominational for so many years (calvary chapel).

I think you're taking a common misconception of conservatism versus liberalism... I think this speaks to conservatism, which basically states that its the peoples place, through church, charity and volunteering of time, to do those things to the poor and unhealthy, not the governments place through taxation as a liberal would have it.

Weird it woudn't let me discuss it for a minute.
btw here's the passage to facilitate the discussion :)
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' (NIV)
40 And in reply the king will say to them, ‘Truly I say to YOU , To the extent that YOU did it to one of the least of these my brothers, YOU did it to me.’ (NWT)
--- NIV w/ Context ---
The Sheep and the Goats
31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

but Im all for sharing the load.
I have to say, I and many other guys absolutely do share the load. But women now adays don't see that and assume that going to work 40+ hours a week is a given and the work at home is so overwhelming that a guy has to also do half of that.

I always kept us as my ex had a string of crappy jobs and no desire to better his prospects, I worked cleaned cooked and studied a degree and spent time with my kids
So basically, you're taking your husbands lack of responsibility to the family as an excuse to say that women shouldn't have a responsibilty to the family either. I work my butt off for my family and always will, so I don't take any issue with expecting greatness out of my wife as well. If he had a string of crappy jobs and no desire to better his prospects, then he failed you, and miserably and to that its his fault, but that doesn't change my position.

i'd like to know, I have now moved to straigtening the house before and after work because she doesn't do it anymore. Again its my fault for playing the nice guy all these years and giving in to what she wants, regardless of what I do for her, so I take responsibility for it. But what it comes down to is I want a girl that is PRO-FAMILY first and foremost, as I have been and will continue to be.
Just like a manager doesn't clean floors and a janitor doesn't sit in board meetings, there are a natural order to things... not saying that a womans duties are any less or more than a mans duties, but their are family duties none the less.

this man is going wrong because he thinks just because he works 16 hours a day, his wife should have dinner ready. - maybe she doesnt want to, maybe she wants them both to wok 6 hours each, take turns cooking and spend the evening together,,
WOW! This man is going wrong because he thinks that he spent 10 (not 16) hours at a job making money that is COMPLETELY spent on his family after paying for a place to live in a nice neighborhood, food to eat, clothes for the kids, electricity, internet, cable, cell phone, car, insurance, $150 to get her hair done, clothes for her, shoes, makeup, laptop, that God forbid his wife spend 1 hour of that time making dinner each night? How selfish of me!!!

creativhoney, nowhere in my post did I say that I wanted to her to stay home all day. You're making an assumption from my words that I said "I want the woman to be home for 10 hours aday while I'm gone and do nothing else." I never said that. But I do believe in the nuclear family, and believe that human nature is for the man to provide for his family and the wife to keep the house. You can't honestly say that things are better now adays then they were before can you? You think that having an unstructured family has helped the divorce rate?
I'm lost at why women want so much to be away from the kids and house for hours a day, again not talking out of necessity (such as a need for money to make ends meet). Families and spouses are so focused on things now adays that aren't family oriented. Me? I need nothing else but my wife and kids, and everything else (job included) can disappear.
Also you're assuming that I would force a woman into that, my post is simply that I was asked what kind of girl a man wants, for me that pretty much narrows it down. I could give a watered down post of what I think everyone wants to see me write, but what would the point of that be on a forum :)
I'm talking about priorities. With two very young kids, I want a woman who lets me be her "knight in shining armor" per se while she takes care of her responsibilities of raising the children. Its the natural order of things.

Heh I've been considering this for a long time as I've "TRIED" (and failed miserably) at the mutual relationship thing (read: not overbearing). And this will probably sound sexist, but whatever...
I want a girl who is willing to be a family person, whom I will go to the ends of the earth for. I would work two, three or four jobs for her and for the family, but I ask she does her share. I want her to be family centric and marriage focused. I want her job to be taking care of the house and raising the kids the right way, leave the daily hustle and bustle to me.
I want a wife who will show me the love I need (mentally and physically) first and foremost before any of her TV shows come on or her before her cell phone rings. I want her to show the respect and appreciation I do every morning I wake up at four in the morning to drive in the lousy Southern Califonria traffic so I can work for 10 (at least) hours a day to bring home that paycheck, pay rent and buy that food .
I want a girl who's not selfish and is considerate of her spouse.
Sorry I guess I'm sounding a little sour.... oh well ... hopefully you all will have better luck than I :)
