  Lying for 'The Truth'?

  my bro introduced me to a concept called 'lying for the truth'.

  is that actually something that the watchtower promotes?

  talk about a contridiction, i didn't think it could be true that such a practice would be tolerated, but he says so.

  Help please - my wife wants a divorce

  i've read some old posts and they don't really fit my situation.. my wife just told me she wants a divorce and that's it after nearly 20 years., she doesn't want to try to work on it.. other posts talk about friends and family.

  i have no family and no friends (due to a lot of traveling).. i went back to my hometown a year ago (after many years away) and even then old friends treated me as a stranger, like they've moved on.. i've had a lot of emotional / mental problems, basically a breakdown so have found it impossible to fulfill my role as a husband for many years, emotionally and physically and she said she's had enough, although she's never talked about it before.. she went out and had an unplanned one-night-stand.

  i forgive me but she says she doesn't love me anymore.. we both find it very difficult to communicate our feelings.

  I'd say ;good luck;, but I know better with some of this crowd. ....prayer, lots of prayer asking God for answers. You would due better with prayer than with any advice I could give you on such a personal matter. We should all pray for you now. Think of everyone reading these posts praying for your intentions. Only good could come from such a thing, don;t ya think?

  I found out [only after my brother kept constantly throwing anti-catholic/pro-watchtower doctrine my way. ] www.4jehovah.com/jehovahs-witness-history.php that those 7,000 people assembled as a pro-Nazi movement. Yearbook in 1934 stated that those JWs stood with the Nazi government and their anti-west/anti-Jewsish [banking] stance and priciples.

  My bro read it, was deeply troubled by it when he confirmed it in www.archive.org/details/WatchtowerBibleandTractSocietyofPennsylvaniaWatchtowerpubs_0 which is an on-line JW publications library upto 1947.

  Anywho, after he read it and [seemingly] accepted it, he still kept trying to perpetuate it, [gotta love his persistance ;'}, but... That's just awful, isn't it?. He knows it's a lie, yet he still 'lies for the Truth'. Even said he doesn't care that it's a lie. This is how he leads his family [wife and kids]. Needless to say, they are in great standing in their Kingdom Hall.

  Other Religions use the Name JEHOVAH too

  are jehovah's witnesses really the only religion that promotes and preaches the name of jehovah?.

  jw's are always claiming that they are the only religion that preaches and uses the name jehovah, and that is why only they will be saved.

  for example, look at this quote from the watchtower:.

  the name Jehovah comes from the traditions of men and not of the Almighty. It's a nickname that was added to a translation. Check your interliniar

  lying is unfortunate fact of life, get used to it by now.

  People lie, but it can't be a doctrine of faith as scripture is so strong against such a thing. Liars are the dogs and pigs which scripture talks about....imho

  I guess it was 'contradicting truth' lying to SS soldiers to keep them from rounding up Dubs for the concentrating camps. You're right, I guess I don't get it.

  Well, that is people lying to protect themselves, is it not? You spoke of governments lying to protect secrets. That's more like SS troops telling the Jews, JWs, Gypsies, Catholics, artists, musicians etc etc that they were being bathed, not gassed.

  The apologist side of me thinks it's no different than if you love your country and work for the CIA and are caught by the enemy.

  You would naturally protect State secrets because of loyalty and you definitely would never voluntarily divulge any information.

  God's truth could never be considered to be like state secrets. Goverments have state secrets and governments kill to keep state secrets, don't they? I guess I don't seed the logic in that explanation.

  wrong answer TTWSWY if you follow WT reasoning! My bro and his family were converted to JWs and baptised for some 20 years. I was not going to become a Catholic apostate. I am still a Catholic. I know, I know that's my problem.

  Yet, jws are told not to lie in court...but they can lie to other jws.

  and to prospective converts too or to anyone who finds scriptual contridictions with the Watchtower promoted 'truths' it seems. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Thanks
