The Truth about the bible
by TTWSYF init really is common sense, but nobody here seems to recognize or acknowledge this blatant and obvious truth.. the holy bible is the result of the catholic liturgy.
they used these scriptures in their religious practices and confirmed which books would and would not be part of their cannon.
they picked, preserved and promoted these books and gave 'the word of god' to the world.. i know that pisses off some folks, but it is the truth [not the 'truth'tm].

A little more biblical truth for any interested
Because the bible was not confirmed until [around] 381ad, You really cannot/should not look at the bible as the start all/end all on Christianity as some Christian faiths do. There are roughly 350 years of documented history predating this biblical confirmation. Over 30,000 pages of written history from the early Christian church.
Imagine [if you're an american] looking back on your national history staring around 1970. Sure, you get your view of America from the Vietnam war going forward. What you'd miss is the Cuban missile crisis, WW2, WW1, The civil war, [about 25 false end of the world JW prophesies..lol], the War of 1812, the Revolutionary war, The Salem witch trials, the first Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock. You would not have a comprehensive view of our history. The US history did not start with President Nixon, it started centuries before.
The same can be said about the Church that Jesus started. He never said 'Write these things down and we'll have a Christian community'. He did say 'Peter, you are rock and on this rock I will build my church' He also said 'Do all that I command and I will be with you til the end of this age' Although it is true that there were other groups that followed some of the teachings and some of the commands of Jesus, only one church was commissioned by Jesus and was built/ promoted by his chosen apostles.

Ya think? How was mental growth not stunted? Don't ask questions. Everyone else is gonna die at Armageddon, everyone else is controlled by Satan and is trying to lead you astray. Don;t try to learn from any other sources but us. WE HAVE THE TRUTH.
I could go on for days, but my point is made

The problem with the WTS/Jehovahs Witnesses is that they MUST lie to assert an authority that they do not possess, The reason that their teachings change so often is because when new people get control of the governing body, they interpret scriptures with their own personal views and promote those flawed views in AWAKE and THE WATCHTOWER. That is why they follow a rigorous regiment of revisionist history not only of the scriptures, but also of their own short and complicated history.
How do we know this? Because Jesus inspected all the churches in 1914 and found..blah, blah, blah.
Really? Says who? An organization that was founded in America some 150 years ago? From a snake oil salesman who didn't like the idea of hell. Guess what, not one likes the idea of hell. Doesn't mean that it doesn;t exist.
A better question as to who has the authority to interpret the bible has everything to do with simple, common sense.
Who gave the world the bible and promoted it as the word of God? A_The Catholic Church
Why did they compile the bible? A_To use in their liturgical practices
Why would you listen to someone elses' interpretation? A_ Because you've been duped
What about the Great Apostasy? A_Never happened, just another JW lie
The bible states unequivocally that Jesus commissioned the apostles to build HIS Church. A Church to Jesus, hence the term "Christianity" and not "Jehovahanity"

Changing scriptural interpretations is a necessity for accurate knowledge in my opinion. Reading the King James version in the 21st century does not translate accurately in today's vernacular, so an adjustment is correct.
An example could be something as simple as changing 'betrothed' to 'engaged' like in the example of Joseph and Mary. Betrothed is a word that does not have a modern use in the west these days so engaged is probably a better word.
As far as which list of biblical books to use, you have to ask 'How does one have the authority to decide which books belong and do not belong?'
I go to the source. To the people who gave the world the bible and take their authority over someone else who has no such authority to decide which books to include or not include.
For the record, I do not accept the WTS as an authentic source or authority...
Who gave the world the bible again? Why was it written? To be a guide for Christianity or for some other reason?

I saw the whole series and thought it was very well done. Jared Harris and Skarskard were terrific. I was living in West Germany during the mid 80s and we knew more about the accident than most in the Soviet Union.
Mistakes were certainly made. It's a mini series worth watching
imho

irrefutable proof of the great apostasy that corrupted the catholic church
by TTWSYF inwhen the emperor constantine legalized christianity in the roman empire around 311ad he allowed or introduced a flood of half converted pagans and allowed the corruption that sullied the true faith and ruined christianity until a time when it could be restored to the true and pure faith that it was intended to become.
many people here know that to be a fact.
it's a common sense theory, right?.

Thank you all for some thoughtful answers.
So far the consensus is that there never was a great apostasy from the universal church.
No proof what so ever, correct?

What Jesus' Return Would Mean for JWs, According to the Bible
by Afterburn inon the last day, jesus returns, and 8,000,000 jehovah's witnesses are shocked that he didn't return invisibly.
remembering the account of stephen, they know if they can see him, they can speak directly to him, so they line up proudly to be rewarded for all they've done for his brothers.. "lord, lord," they happily cry out, "just look what all we have done in your name!".
"i know," jesus says, "i saw.

Jesus said to obey everything that he commanded, not just a few things that people thought were more important than other things.
MATT 28- 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age
Is there an organization that does ALL that Jesus commanded? I know for a fact that it isn't the WTS

Historically speaking, there are some 30,000 pages or so of written Christian history predating 311, so you can look back to the 1st century and see where the church was and then walk it to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th centuries all the way up to the 21st century. You can clearly see the shift in Christ;s teachings, right?
I have not found any evidence of this 'great apostasy'. I have found many examples of people who wanted it to be true and would promote the idea based solely on emotion, but no proof at all what so ever.
If the great apostasy happened, you could say 'here, on this date [or year] this person/people changed the teachings and turned away from the true Christianity. I'm looking for someone to give a clear example of this apostasy that ruined Christianity.
thoughts?
