I looked up on Biblos.com [the online parallel bible] a comparison of 17 different translations. The only difference in those translations is the change of the Holy Ghost to the Holy Spirit.
Are you aware of any evidence that suggests those scriptures had been tampered with?

i recently enlisted in the army as active duty, havnt left yet, and am wondering if it is concientiously okay to do this as a christian?
keep in mind there is a good chance i will see combat.
i have already made my decision but am interested to hear others views.

How else could Adolf Hitler have been stopped? How else could nations stand up against the kind of aggression that we currently see in the Koreas? The ethnic cleansing of the former Yugoslavia? These evils and many others, too numerous to mention here, could only be stopped by people joining the military and nations standing up against this kind of aggression.
That's not to say that I am opposed to people who decide against joining, far from it. It's just that the claim that a Christian should not be in the military is what irks me. That belief is not scripturally supported, yet I hear some [confused] people profess that belief as being a requirement of Christianity.

Good show Burns. But the only similarity between the Christian Trinity and the Hindu Trinity is the word trinity.
Although the wikipedia [,unreliable resource by the way,] uses the words 'great trinity' , the extensive polytheism of that faith could not possibly translate into Christianity. Hindus have [literally] hundreds of millions of Hindu gods. It is true that hindus will often view their [lower] deities as the 3 greater deities [Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva], often referred to as the Trimurti. They apparently proceeded the 'Great World Egg' that itself was created by the 'First Cause'.
They do not believe in a single divine Being who is eternal, uncreated, and in three persons which would be required to say that the Christian Trinity was borrowed from pagan beliefs.

All analogies to God break down at some point because God is unique, but the best comparison I have heard is the triple point of a substance.

Another way that the Trinity could be comprehended could be like comparing God to time. You need a past/present/future for time. You can't really have time without any one of them. All three are concepts of time, all three are separate and equal are they not? Maybe?
The 'Should you believe in the Trinity?' should be removed from circulation as it initially made me look away from my Catholic faith [for years]. I had no quams about this when I thought that the booklet was well researched and it certainly looked it.
Once I researched the facts I got to see how quite despicable and disingenuous the Watchtower was [and still is] in promoting this 'lying for the Truth' propaganda.
sorry if that sounds harsh, but there is no example of an almighty Trinity, eternal and uncreated in any other religous belief. It is not 'borrowed' from any Egyption, Hindu, pagan or Greek myth. All of the church fathers listed in the booklet [sybitt?] believed in Jesus Christ as 'God in the flesh' or 'God with Us'. All listed have complete writtings available.

a few months ago two jw women caught me unexpectedly, so they talk about the.
usual jw none sense.
the nite before i was reading and researching the nephilim.. more proof to disclaim the flood.
I remember [from Greek Mythology in HS in 1982] that Greek heros were born out of relations from the mythological gods and humans. There is a parallel between these 'men of renown' and Greek heros [Hercules, Archilles, Odysseus, Perseus, Jason, etc].
By believing in the scriptures, I would have to say that my personal belief is that the Greek heros were actually the offspring of the fallen angels and the Nephilim. Of course that could be subject to change as I am enlighten by the studious and scholarly members of JWnet.

To me, the bible makes total sense. Not that I'm a fundamentalist, but I think of the bible meaning what it says. That Jesus [and others] desended down infers below my feet. Couple that with the scriptural references that hell is at the earths center lead me to believe that [a biblical] hell is at the earths core. I know, it's crazy, but that is what the scriptures say, and the technology to prove or disprove this theory does not yet exist.
An example of the soul/spirit/body differential, in Genesis can easily be explained. God created the world in seven days. Obviously the days are different [longer] where he resides, heaven, [even if he is everywhere]. Adam was the 1st man made with a soul, but the nephilim had already been on the earth and were [more than likely] the humans [with spirit, but not a soul] that the fallen angels had relations with, [as recorded in Genesis].
On the trinity comments, it should be noted that scripture states that Jesus Christ is God, That the Father is God, That the Holy Ghost is God without using the word trinity, it is non the less scripturally inferred. One example is that Jesus orders us to baptise on the name of the Father, the Son & the Holy Ghost. One name for the 3 separate beings. Wait for the helper, not wait for help...the Holy Ghost is the Helper.
Of course this is just my own thought process as one must ultimately make a 'leap of faith' when you actually accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. When you know that Jesus would have gone through it all, just for you, even if you were the only person on earth, well, then you've made the leap too!

These are some physical references of hell. Jesus decended to hell after his death on the cross/torture tree. The following are from the JW bible.
NWT - EPH ch4 vs 9 Now the expression “he ascended,” what does it mean but that he also descended into the lower regions, that is, the earth? 10 The very one that descended is also the one that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might give fullness to all things
N WT - MATH ch12- vs 40 For just as Jo´nah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
