Farkel,
I believe this post is about the Deity of Christ. How did you get to Child Rape? Can anybody spell R-E-D H-E-R-R-I-N-G?
here is a large collection of verses which prove the deity of christ:.
isaiah 6-7 6. for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, counseller, the mighty god, the everlasting father, the prince of peace.
7. of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of david, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.

How did I try to change the subject? You spoke of CHILD rape. I defined CHILD. I would prefer that you did not use profanity when responding to me. I would not do that to you. I've read Numbers, BTW. Your profanity and insult slinging is the only red herring I see.

I am a Born Again Christian, and I don't consider myself to be rabid. I find that most biblical discussions with people who have no belief or faith in the bible are basically pointless. A better way to share the gospel with Atheists and Jehovah's Witnesses is to live what the gospel teaches. Display love at all times to your enemies and to your friends.
When people ask me why I am the way I am, I tell them its because of my accepting Jesus, and allowing the Holy Spirit to operate in my life.
Farkel, I think that is a bit of a stretch with the whole bible supporting child rape. While in our society a female is not considered a woman until 18, in ancient societies a female was considered to be a woman following her first menstrual period (which can occur as young as nine years old).
dear brothers:
as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.
in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.
Friday,
The thing to remember about this whole UN thing is that the Society has disfellowshipped people and caused them to lose their lives over lesser infractions than their UN affiliation. I've never heard a JW refer to himself as rank and file, but as you state yourself, the rank and file have had their lives destroyed (shunned by entire family) for saying a greeting to a disfellowshipped person. There is nothing they can do to justify their UN involvement, that's why they simply pulled out and didn't offer much of an explanation to anyone, including the rank and file.
Also, Jesus wouldn't condemn his followers for wanting his return, however he would condemn them for their Pharasaical rules. He would also condemn them for not showing love.
Reborn, you are my hero. I enjoy your posts.
i don't think i will never join another organized religion.
that being said however, i have enjoyed going on occasion to non-denominational churches, watching the band play music, and the speaker.
if you did or would attend another church regularly, which one would you go to and why?
Yes. I am a member of a progressive Apostolic church. I love it, but I didn't lose my faith in the bible when I left JWs. I actually discovered what the bible really says once I left. The thing I really love about my church is that if the pastor says something that I don't biblically agree with, I can ask questions and disagree without being shunned. When I first left JWs I visited many churches before I found one that I liked.
For all the non-Christians on the board. Guess what? Jesus still loves you.
:) :) :) :)
I'm just messing with y'all! Don't attack me.
*jesussaves ducking from all of the stones and rotten vegetable being hurled in her direction*
when you were getting fed up with meetings before you gave up, was there anything you did to deliberately get on the brothers nerves?.
i turned up to a meeting once with jeans on, and a red top with cccp on it with the 'hammer and sickle'.
i also went to another bs group a few times so that if i wasnt at one group they'd think i was at the other and vice versa.
I didn't do this deliberately to piss them off, but they were pissed anyhow. I used to fall asleep at the bookstudy. I was twenty one and had just started a job at the post office carrying mail. I would come to the bookstudy in my letter carrier uniform (dirty) and promptly go right to sleep. Sometimes the conductor would tell someone to wake me. I was just trying to make sure I didn't miss any meetings. I should've just gotten my much needed rest.
Tiffany
well these guys sure do!

funny and informative at the same time
Undecided,
I respect your opinion as far as your choice of music goes. I happen to hate heavy metal and country western music, but I don't equate those music forms with 'the white culture'. Rap music is consumed in the largest quantities by pre-teen and teenaged white kids. The true, poetic form of glorious hip-hop has been diluted into this new commercial form that is perpetuated by white record executives.
Yes, there are some young black men and women who sell drugs. It's sad. It's also sad that young white men and women also sell drugs. What's also disturbing is to see how many professional white folks come to 'the hood' to score their drugs.
That website was hilarious. If only most of the things mentioned were exaggerations! A good friend of mine at work (who is a manager) had another manager comment on how articulate she was, as if it were a surprise. When I wore my hair in braids, I ALWAYS got comments about it from white people. I don't consider the thing with the braids to be racist. I find that women often comment on hairstyles and I ask other black women similar questions about their hairdos.
I think that sometimes, in an effort to try to relate, some white people come across as racist. If someone who I find geuninely kind asks me a question about 'soul food', I don't assume it's racist. I just answer their questions.
A word to the wise white person :) - Don't ever try to hold an intellectual conversation with a black person on any of these topics:
-slavery
-reparations
-affirmative action
-the civil rights movement
-O.J. Simpson
-Rodney King
No matter what you say.....you can't win.
something i have observed since i've left the org is that people who were raised in the org and have lots of family in , aren't able to really act like a grown up.
its more like a teenager sort of thing.
i've read where adults won't openly celebrate holidays because of fear of being shunned by parents.
I definitely used the 'ask me no questions, tell me no lies' policy. It took me four years to tell my family that I attend a church. The first church I went to was near my grandmother's house, and I used to park my car about ten minutes away and then walk into the church, shielding my face from the traffic (It was a major street). I now openly celebrate holidays. I even invite them over for dinner! My mom won't come, but she'll accept a plate of leftovers couriered by my 17 year old baptized little brother (he comes to all my holiday parties). They still try to back me in a corner sometimes, even though they already know my stance on most of their beliefs. I don't try to defend anything now, I just laugh.
It took four years of sneaking, though. So I can't judge anyone! :)
i was raised in the truth, and until the age of 18, very active(although never baptized).
i stopped going to meetings and out in service when i came to terms with being a lesbian.
i just felt like i was wasn't being true.
I did feel that way when I first left. I was also raised in as a JW. Have you read Crisis of Conscience? After I read that book, every feeling of guilt and every tie to them was broken.
long time lurker, first time poster.
finally taking the plunge.
i started reading here and other sites last summer, after years of declining 'spirituality'.
Congratulations, No Apologies! And Welcome!
