BB King is a hero of mine, because supposedly, his style came from an at least perceived deficiency on his part. According to him, he was'nt a good slide guitar player. So he developed his signature vibrato to replicate slide.

do people here feel threatened by bold posts?

i ask this because it would seem that everyone on this board has an axe to grind, and any "bold" posts that disagree with the majority are ignored.

i have found that most of the posts i made ended threads.

Dig deeper and you'll find more. However after years of indoctrination, many of us suffer from "black and white thinking" still. The diametric opposite of the WT may be some people's bag here, but many will dogmatically defend THAT viewpoint in the same way they defended the WT, without even realizing that they've replaced one dogmatic addiction, new religion, politics, etc. with another. So, many, even if they are "right" are "right fighters" who have a NEED to be right, rather than dealing with their issues, helping others, etc. It's an occupational hazard with cults. But it's wonderful to watch those who DO end up throwing that thinking out.

Do black Americans claim Obama as one of their own?

i was watching an interview with a black american recently about barrack obama.

interestlingly he said that black americans find it hard to claim him as one of their own.

he said that black people would much prefer to have someone who is from the stereotypical upbringing of a black american to be the presidential candidate.

Also, uhh, not all black Americans think alike, OK? Sure, there's some that claim him as one of their own based on race, rhetoric, or whatever. There's some that would call him names based on race, skin color, rhetoric or whatever. There's straight, gay, republican, democrat, christan, satanist and every other kind of "black American."

BBQ Advice

for many years i have held bbq's in derision.

i am not one for social norms and have a general fear of succumbing to pleasant suburban society.

maybe i harbour this dislike because a jw once told me that he imagines the new system as a never ending bbq.

Us BBQ fanatics can be pretty dogmatic. I've seen people close to fisticuffs over the whole gas vs. charcoal debate. find what works for YOU!! Except for the chimney part, it's just easier, renewable, and you don't have to by lighter fluid all the time.

You CAN slow cook on a typical weber grill with out an offset box. It takes a little practice, but I smoked a brisket for 6 hours in one @ 225 f a couple mo. ago and it turned out great!

read terry's topic about franz vs manson...read burger times counter topic...jwd being diverse as it is, it is natural there would be those that don't care for negitive comparisons when it comes to the wt.... me, i loath the wts and all it stands for...yet i'm not good with words as others are.

So, Shawn, would people like Isaac hayes fit into your definition? Smokey Robinson? Because, strangely, they're not on that list. However in their bio's on wikipedia, they're BOTH referred to as singer-songwriters...Hmmm
