I helped start an orphanage for children in that live in Nepal, I've read about the Dalai lama, and yes I've meditated. I'm not big on religion, regardless of it's stripe. Magical thinking keeps many from actually DOING stuff, which is what helps. Getting off your ass and helping others, rather than "wishing" for it (i.e praying, meditating, manifesting) or waiting on God. I used to do the same by handing out watchtowers. Now, I work on actually helping people in the here and now, and I'm agnostic.

blame the cult.. suicide is a very complicated behavior.. mental health professionals caution against assigning blame when people kill themselves.. being disfellowshipped is a life stress and some people are not equipped mentally to handle it.

scotoma, this isn't the first time this has happened here. I can think of at least two other board members who have taken their lives under similar circumstances. Did it "cause" it? Maybe it's not the only contributing factor, but the way the WTS sets you up against going for mental health, yanks the rug out from under you socially and takes all of your family and friends sure as hell doesn't help. Not to mention the psychological damage they cause while you are in. Does an abusive spouse who beats their partner and isolates them for twenty years "cause" a suicide? Does a prison who puts someone in solitary for 20 years "cause" a suicide? I think you see where I'm going with this.....
