How much time before U.S. persecution starts?
by sd-7 ini was reading barbara anderson's recent entry on free minds, and it made me think--the society's recent maneuvers in real estate, moving things to canada, etc.
does this mean jws in the u.s. will be facing problems from the government soon?
if so, is anyone knowledgeable enough to give an educated guess as to how soon this might happen?.

Recent Example of Molestation Policy
by xelder inin the 80's a very righteous elder in our congregation was caught molesting his 2 stepdaughters.
he was df'd.
within 5 years he was 60 miles down the road serving as an elder in another congregation.

Well, first, your job is to make kids safe. Grey areas, etc. are for legal authorities. But the guy you are referring to is CONVICTED. So your instincts are right. As far as the legal dept. goes, you are exactly right. The legal divisions they've made in recent years are made to protect BETHEL. They'll let individual elders swing in the breeze in legal cases, you have to cover your own butt.

Has anyone dealt with custody issues after leaving?

we were having a lot of issues in our marriage that i tried to talk about and he refused to see or even acknowledge.
me leaving was the final straw but to him i just up and left for "no reason".

Get evidence. If it's a one party state, record all his phone calls accusing you of all these things just because you aren't a JW.

Child Custody Cases out of control, your recommendations?
by Dogpatch ini am getting a lot of emails and calls from people who want legal help or counsel because they are divorcing a jw (or vice-versa) and they need help.. i know duane magnani and bill bowen, and recommend them at times, but i am looking for others who might be good referrals as well.
