  Fall of Giants---Ken Follet

  one of the most freeing things i've been able to do since fading from the watchtower's tendril like grasp is, "read what i want to" i particularly enjoy historial novels because they entertain and inform all at the same time.

  i'm just finishing the first of a trilogy "fall of giants" and there was a paragraph that made me think of the great influence of propaganda machines (probably because i was so influenced by the watchtower) i am hugely aware of it's power to lead people all over the place like the waves of the sea i suppose.. here is the paragraph:.

  maud knew the proprietor of the mail, lord northcliffe.

  What are your thoughts? Do you think life is a cycle that can't be changed? Or do we somehow have an impact in some way? Will governments continue to become more opressive or will there be a move to an Anarchical Society.

  I don't think it's necessarily a cycle that can't be changed; I think it's an ongoing struggle. There will always be the self serving, the ignorant, the craven, the corrupt............But there will also be the brave, the thinkers, the principled, and the virtuous. The balance tips back and forth, the tools change, but the struggle continues. Personally I think the overall trajectory is a positive one.

  You appear to be speaking of the god of the bible. The god of the Jews, and possibly the god of the Christians. Since we haven't heard from him for a very long time, your thread would more aptely have been titled "God liked to see children get killed". But even so, we don't actually know if he did indeed "like" seeing childred get killed. That is purely speculation.

  tracking the rolling stones of racetrack playaby: shannon dybvigit's the time of year when the sailing stones of racetrack playa in california's death valley are on the move.

  no one has actually seen these huge rocks move along the flat, dry lake bed.

  sometime, when no one's looking, usually after freezing weather or heavy wind or rain, the rocks up and scoot themselves leaving unmistakable travel grooves in their wake.
