  The WWII memorial is administered by the National Park Service. As are most? all? memorials. Do you know how much security is involved in these memorials these days??? The entire National Mall is one big metal detector. That takes manpower.

  I don't give a damn what the Murdoch Washington Examiner has to say. If I felt like spending more than a minute on the story, I don't doubt I could debunk damn near the whole thing.

  Speaking of debunking, Avik Roy was a Romney advisor, and his stuff has been debunked here for years. Burn the Ships often referenced it.

  If all this information is so legit, why not use credible sources?

  A Cape Cod, Mass., man's last-chance treatment for cancer has been postponed by the government shutdown because new clinical trials cannot begin until they are registered on a federal website, which has been forced to stop processing applications.

  Leo Finn said he had his bone scan canceled at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston on Wednesday, and the 48-year-old father of three is now unlikely to receive an experimental drug for his metastatic bile duct cancer next month as he had expected.

  "It's been devastating for me and for my doctor, who was really excited about this drug," said Finn. "My idea is to get the word out that this is happening, since there may be other patients in the same situation."

  But I think it would be interesting if we could discuss what should be done about health care in this country.

  I disagree with much that this administration is or isn't doing. But when we argue about foolish talking points, I am forced to defend against hyperbole.

  PS It is incorrect to say that "THE Democrats" seceded during the civil war. The party split how many times during that period?? How many became Republicans? It was not a simple party line split, nor do either party of today resemble their civil war ancestors. To suggest equivalence between the parties in today's insanity is just ignorant.

  Ok, I can't take it. I must also point out that the Democrats did not secede. Democrat and Republican had nothing to do with it. This was North and South, States. Not a party line, but State lines.

  So frankly I hope you leave history to a qualified teacher as well.
