Peer Pressure amongst witnesses

have you noticed just how strong peer pressure is amongst witnesses?.

the desire to match or better one another's "spiritual accomplishments" or decisions in life?.

pioneering - because it is the "right" thing to do.. answering at meetings...perhaps multiple times - because it is the "right" thing to do.. choice of employment.

That does mess with a young one who is born in, as they can never truly develop their own personality.

There's no doubt in my mind that i'm somewhat a perfectionist because of my JW upbringing. When your constantly told that what you give is never good enough and you could be giving more more more, it plays with your psyche. As DOC mentioned above everything is for Show. Nothing is truly authentic. Either measure up or be the next gossip talk for the weekly pioneer service crew.

So glad to be out of that anxiety filled mess.

Hubby has been doing research on the internet!!!!

my husband was recently subjected to an intervention by his parents.

i am apparently a danger to his spirituality.

after i stopped attending meetings and went apostate hubby decided to resign as a ms to spend more time with me.

Re-reading this thread makes me realize how much I am in the exact same predicament. My hubby hasnt attended the meeting in over a month, he's ignored all elder and family contact trying to reach him and he told me he doesn't want to talk about his reasons for doing so yet. Im sure it was his parents who sent those two elders stalking over to our new place to try to corner him in which they failed to do.

But it makes me wonder if they are pursuing him now because they view me as a spiritual danger to him. He already told me that he still plans on attending the memorial which I wont be going to and I know they will be all over him when he goes. I feel like when he does go they are going to try to grill him and pull him back Into the cult. Im curious to see if my situation is going to play out exactly like yours.

Word spreading back home

you all know how much jws loooove to gossip.

so...i just finished a email conversation with one of my self-righteous, super jw relatives back home.

let me preface this conversation by saying this relative is someone i don't communicate with, at all.

BM excellent response. Like someone already mentioned giving them no reason or information drives them crazy.

When I confronted the two elders I caught stalking out my place, one of them literally begged me for my reasons of why I no longer attend. He just had to know! When he saw he couldnt get an answer it fustrated the hell out of him.

They need you to say something so they can incriminate you and hang you with your own words.

You handled yourself well in not giving your nosey cousin any info. Of course they're gonna make up stuff anyway but you knew that already. Stick to your guns! We got your back as well!

Animals were created without needing Toilet Paper ... but not Man ... Why???

my dog and other pets do their "business" and run away and are happy.. man does not have that luxury.

any thoughts on why animals were created with the "poop and go" capacity while man has to go through more steps?

was this perhaps an additional issue that god added on when adam and eve sinned (such as eve having significant more birth pains)?

Fade Fail: Not as Easy as I'd Like

very tough actually.

because i'm so integrated into things including certain tasks which i can't say as it would be a dead giveaway i find myself constantly bombarded by things.. i'm literally a lying every day.

Sabin you accurately describe exactly everything they do. they constantly push push push then find some way to turn it back around on you and make it your fault when you blow a gasket from all their harrasment. bastards indeed!!

Faith and Lies.

if you were hooked up to a polygraph machine when you were still an asleep, kool-aid drinking dub and asked if you agree 100% with every single wt teaching (asked as individual questions and collectively), would you have "passed" with no signs of deception?.

i know, i definitely would not have "passed" such an interegation.

i would have tripped up on questions about blood, dfing and non jws being marked for destruction just to name a few.

Im sure my readings would be all over the place too. Blood was never a big concern of mine. It was always the theocratic aspect that bothered me: the keeping of field service time, the climbing of ranks in the org, the taking of every word written in the publications as coming from god himself and stuff of that sort. Growing up I never received satisfying answers when I brought up these issues. it was always drilled in us kids to never question authority, be obedient and be a good little submissive girl.

I think we are constantly told to "make the truth our own" but really for them its not about us having our own faith its about shutting your pie hole and believing whatever the hell they tell you to believe. Oh and don't forget if you do you'll be blessed!

what buzz word from the jw's do you hate & why?

so my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?

because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.

anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious true-believer from a celebrated multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.

by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dismissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".
