One other thing I forgot to mention MrsJones ... I also read that often times the "bite" in the back of the throat can be attributed to residual flint from the lighter being used. Flint residue traveling through the flame and being inhaled. There are some YouTube videos on the subject. As an alternative, some people who try to keep things organic use a glass sphere like a magnifying glass to light their bud and thus eliminate the presence of flint etc.

Medical Cannabis
by mrsjones5 inover the thanksgiving weekend my family and i stayed with a dear friend.
our dear friend partakes of medical cannabis which helps with his depression, insomnia, and panic attacks.
he suggested that my husband should give it a try because it could help relieve his pain and help him to sleep during the night.. so hubby tried it (three nights in a row, about 15 minutes each session), didn't like the scatchy throat he got from inhaling the smoke but he said it helped his pain and he was able to rest.

MrsJones5,
As someone who was raised a JW and is generally conservative/ leans "right" in my political beliefs, I never thought I'd say this but I actually support the legalization of at the very least medicinal cannabis. It strikes me as absolutely absurd that "man" would outlaw a naturally occurring plant that was likely in existence before man was. All these other prescription drugs have side effects - many of them very dangerous. The government and companies have zero issue with legalizing, producing and prescribing drugs for depression that could for instance make you want to commit suicide. It's crazy. Now, I don't use cannabis. I tried one hit about a dozen years ago and nothing happened. However, I have researched it for business purposes. The landscape of the medicinal market is changing and I think eventually there will be opportunity there.
That said, check out these forums:

Tell your husband that the little burn in the back of his throat could have been caused by the grower not flushing the roots of his plants with water to get the nutrients he had fed them out of their system. It shouldn't bite like that in the back of the throat. Also if it happens to pop at all when it's lit, that can signal that there are still chemical nutrients present in the bud. He'd also probably benefit from consumption via a vaporizer vs. smoking it. Much healthier. You'll also find recipes on the above forums for cooking with it.
Again, I'm just very well read. I promise. Hope he finds some relief.

$1399.60/oz this morning! Wow.Gold seems to be unstoppable at the moment. You have the inflation trade working for it with the declining dollar and then too you still have the uncertainty trade working for it. To get this economy going again the U.S. (as always) is going to have a weak dollar policy. The Fed has sworn to keep interest rates low to encourage consumer spending. Both necessary to get the markets moving again and encourage borrowing. As inflation and debt rise - even if the stock market rises- Gold should go higher. If it goes the other direction and the bottom falls out again, I think Gold goes higher still as a place to go for safe haven.
It wasn't that long ago I remember Gold being $300.00/oz. Unreal.

Might be time to ditch that old wedding ring. I wonder how much a men's wedding ring weighs on average?

JW says "how could anyone learn the truth with only a bible"
by clarity ini would appreciate your help trying to explain to a jw, how someone could just read a bible on their own and understand what it is all about.
without an organization.. also, how could nonchristians or pagans etc find out about christ without someone to teach them?
after 45 years of using the bible, it is easy for me to say to jesus question "who will you go away to?

Clarity ... that's why, if you notice, I'm quoting from the NWT. Remember when the Organization taught us where to find the name Jehovah in other translations of the Bible so we could show the householder from their own Bible that they trusted that it was so. Same with a JW. Nothing is more damning to the beliefs of JW's than reading the words from their own publications. What the rare few actually do, is lay out the books on a table and establish a chronology of failed reasonings, false prophecies, and false speculation in one sitting. They'll get a bit here, a bit there, looking primarily at fresh reasonings in comparison to each other and what they've most recently heard. There are JW's today that have never seen some of the older literature. They bought into the new stuff and have no clue what the origins of their current religion are. They've done virtually no due diligence on the belief system they've committed their lives to. Scary!
Please keep us posted on how your conversation goes with your friend.

Clarity,
Let's go wayyyy back. Remind me again who it was that confused the languages of mankind in the first place (according to the Bible)? God right ...during the Tower of Babel incident? And after this confusion of the languages it caused them to divide off into groups of their own language. This is the explanation that Christians today, including the Witnesses, use to explain where the many languages and divisions came from.
Add to it, the Scriptures tell us at 1 Timothy 2:3,4, that God desires that "all sorts" of men come to an accurate knowledge of him and be saved. Right? So if God was the one who created the confusion and barriers in the languages and yet he desires "all sorts" of men to come to an accurate knowledge of him and be saved, and still yet all he saw necessary to provide was the Bible (part in Hebrew and part in Greek) don't you think he had a plan to work out how all those people of other languages "he incited" would be able to receive exposure to the Bible, and then be able to understand what it meant to them?
Going back to JWFacts comment about the Witnesses lacking faith, this is a prime example. They feel that no one can come to an accurate knowledge of the "truth" or be saved without them. To that I would point them to 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 where it says:
5 What, then, is A·pol´los? Yes, what is Paul? Ministers through whom YOU became believers, even as the Lord granted each one. 6 I planted, A·pol´los watered, but God kept making [it] grow; 7 so that neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes [it] grow. 8 Now he that plants and he that waters are one, but each [person] will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. Y OU people are God’s field under cultivation, God’s building.
So in the end of the matter, according to Scripture, who is responsible for a person growing spiritually and learning the "truth"? God right?
So if 1 Timothy 2:3,4 says: 3 This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, 4 whose will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
....and 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 tells us that God is responsible for people's "growth" spiritually, and all we can do is plant the seed (give them a Bible for instance) and water it (maybe share Scriptures of hope, etc) I have to wonder why God doesn't choose to make "all" men/women "grow"? Right? Isn't that his desire? Why some and not others?
Think about it.
