^ Basically what it means is when someone is talking to you about why something you (the JW) are teaching is wrong they most likely are using "permissive human reasonings."

once again my wife and i were sent the " witness only " wt version by our lurking jw friend that they study at wt study meetings.
and once again wt society is showing very controlling tendencies towards it's jw members.. do any of you remember the " old days " in the 1970's or early 1980's when witnesses used to have goody night after book study ?
or you would have a " potluck picnic " with about 30 to 40 people getting to know one another to draw close as friends outside the confines of the kingdom hall ?

Have they ever defined "permissive human reasonings" BTW?
This is a buzz term and doesn't really have a clear definition.

This isn't new, your post kind of makes it sound new. I have been reading those lines for many years.
But that's what makes it dangerous. The message is clear and repetitive.

alice, i have a sense that you've dug yourself a hole on this forum and don't know how to get out of it.. you would probably like to engage and share your stories as most of us do here, and as you've done in your child abuse thread, but you've created an antagonistic persona that makes it difficult for many to empathize with your real life concerns and experiences.. i suggest that you retire your "alice in wonderland" moniker and return as a normal poster, a jw with doubts.
many will understand, and you may make some friends..
Remind you of Anyone??????
Especially when you accuse her of malacious statements and she goes "Me? I never said that"

belief is spackle.
you can't see the crack in your thinking when you exercise faith.
faith is denying the reality of alternate explanations to yourself and everybody else.. .
Science is predictible, religious faith iS RIDDELED in superstition! Sure there are some genuine religionists out there that have open minds and open eyes to what they believe, but they are hard to find and do not have a loud enough voice to overtake the religious bigots that occupy most of the religion population (or at least the most influential).

Agonus, faith in science is so different than faith in a religious belief system it's comparing apples to oranges.

I'm not sure I understand. I'm here to challenge opposing viewpoints; that's constructive. If you can't accept a challenge I assume you're just here to complain: that's not constructive.
You sound just like a cousin of mine.
The "What? If you can't handle the truth then that's your problem not mine."
It's not the fact that you challenge people's views on this board that gives you your reprehensible wrap. It's the cheap shot after cheap shot after cheap shot after horrible despicable things you have said.
You are a Watchtower fanboy and you probably don't even go to meetings or really practice as one. You have allowed the religious bigots of Brookyln to think for you, so much so that you defend the WT in ways that are wholly questionable and sometimes blantently destructive.
But of course you can always hide behind the "You can handle the truth" argument.
Now shoo.

Essan there is a point of no return when it comes to mental illness. Hitler most likely had a mental illness and it doesn't help me "understand" why he killed all those Jews.
Not saying that Alice is on the same level, but it's a pretty clear cut way of explaining that the "mental health" card has limits.

pondering over this dilemma:.
lets just say, for arguments sake, the report in genesis about the first humans is not an allegory, but a true event:.
watchtower teaches, that adam sinned, because he used his free will to disobey.. god grants free will to his human creation, because he wants them to serve him out of love.. ok, good, but i give an example: i meet a girl, tell her, she is free to love me, but if not, i kill her.. would you call this free will ?.
If the story was just a mere fable it might be an interesting historical read, it would provide more insight into the TIME PERIOD it was written and the current mental state of the writer.
But it is not and never will be a "mere fable" because of it's surrounding context.
