Sounds good to me.

below is the outline for a talk on the service meeting this week, i guess to help ones to answer the objection / accusation - how would you refute, if this reasoning was used by a jw at your door?.
have not jehovahs witnesses made errors in their teachings?.
jehovahs witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets.
We let the facts speak for themselves.
Sounds good to me.

are there pretenders in our brotherhood- as in all religion- that do what is evil?.
yes.. have we made stupid guesses about some of the prophecies, as all churches do?.
yes.. does our "organization" make mistakes- as, you guessed it, all do?.
^ I don't think he is referring to no evidence for a "creator" but rather a "creator who gives a shit."

we are well aware of the recent 2010 convention drama with the first century christians portrayed using modern theocratic terms such as 'field service' and 'reports' etc.... it seems this is not a new trick of the wt.... while researching something else i came accross these :.
watchtower 1944.
30 as a representative of the lords theocratic organization paul did, indeed, instruct that a congregational meeting be held, but not to vote with outstretched hand and indicate by a show of hands what was their judgment and decision on the matter.
It's so creepy.

^ of course that involved building up a publishing company to "get the word out there."

thetrueone, I think Rutherford was a sick (in the head) man. I think he actually thought he was a -psuedo-messianic figure and that what came out of his mouth had direct ties to Jehovah's Purpose.
Read some of his books (if you have not already) he was very well-intentioned, just delusional. I believe he REALLY believed that he was a chosen man commissioned for the greatest accomplishment in human history to date.

A good thing for EVERY religionist out there to do is take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself these questions:
"What do I have invested in my choice of religion? How important are those investments to me? What would my faith look like if those investments were lost?"
Once you truly answer these questions will you find out how much your faith alone really means to you.

i have heard from some credible sources that any alcohol consumption is technically not good for you as our digestive system is not designed for fermentation intake.
i have read studies that say the same thing.. how much credence do you give the concept that any alchohol is technically not good for you?.
-sab.
My question was referring more to the physiological affects of alcohol, but all type of replies are welcome!

Russell, Rutherford were nothing but charlatans of their time who exploited peoples weaknesses
through acts of maligning coercion.
thetrueone, do you believe that those men didn't have good intentions and were merely seekers of power?

I'll chime in here.
Here's the JWs problem in a nutshell:
They believe that the Bible is the literal inerrant word of God. This is an interesting position to take and comes with MANY problems. Take this Bible verse for example (there are hundreds, this is just one):
Exodus 21:15: And one who strikes his father and his mother is to be put to death without fail.
This was an ISRAELITE custom (and a harsh one at that), and in no way the actual WORD OF GOD... so the JWs have to use mental gymnastics to refer to it as such, and the hundreds of other Bible texts that could not be from God.
The JWs are fundamentally flawed. They started out assuming that the Bible was indeed inerrant when it is actually very errant, so they had to spend the majorirty of their time coming up with wacky doctrine using questionable logic and actually MISSED THE POINT of the Bible.
They are a lost people.
That being said, I don't believe that one cannot use the Path of The Watchtower to find God because from my experience that Path always seems available to us in any form. It is about the individual and how they "play" their cards so-to-speak.

Actually I've read that consuming moderate amounts of alcohol is actually beneficial. Of course tonight I did not consume moderate amounts so that goes right out the window.
lol
