Soldier it kind of depends on the brother doing the talk. For my grandma's funeral, my aunts and mom talked to him and gave lots of details about the person my grandma was, and it was a very personal talk. This brother I have known for 20 years, and I remember he used to give some very "different" talks in the TMS, he has always been an "outside the box" kind of guy.

i remember getting some replies, like "you can't do that, that's illegal.

" and i said "i'm an american, and it's legal here.

I remember my aunt saying it is worth it to pioneer just to get to go to pioneer school. The pioneers are in a special club, they are considered better than us lowly <10/month pubs.

The Writing Department's use of "Exclamation Points". Anybody else find their use cheesy? Or motivating possibly?

something i've been meaning to ask for a while since coming here, is wsup with the writing department's use of exclamation points?

i'm no literature buff or anything, but to me personally, the exclamation points cheapen whatever they're trying to get across.

here's some examples from the new jeremiah book.. how thankful we can be for the teaching done by christian shepherds!.

"This is like what they do at District Assemblies"

I was thinking about this being the standard at the DC. To me all the speakers seem to add !! to let people know when to jump in and clap. A friend and I used to kid around whenever we felt a ! was coming! We wanted to be the ones to "get the clap started." Hmm, seeing that in print I just realized that could be taken another way. Oh well, it's conditioning, the speaker puts an exclamation in, everybody starts clapping no matter what he says.

Spent 5-6 hours being terrified and saying silent repetitive prayers on a Greyhound bus because a fellow passenger was reading a big book with the word "oracle" in the title and all I could imagine was a huge accident d/t "demons" because of this guy and his oracle book. It wasn't until a few years later that I became aware of the software Oracle. Yes he was a college aged guy, reading a book I now recognize as a textbook, and I'm sure he was wondering why this weird chic was glaring at him.

I still feel retarded anytime I think of that, or read the word oracle.

Ridiculous Comment By a Super JW

a few years back, before i had any doubts and when i was a hardcore jw, i remember a super-pioneer-jw sister was conversing with me.

i made the comment about some of my friends at work (all non-witnesses).

she stops me mid sentence and says "friends?

Oh yes. I remember that being said. You were never to refer to non JWs as your friends. They were supposed to just be "acquaintances." Honestly, that is something that I still have a problem with, being able to refer to non jws that I am friends with as friends.

Wow blue grass, i did not realize that the probably unattainable hot JW chic is the least of your problems. So a woman cant fantasize because she will make the fantasy come true and commit adultery? By that logic you would not still be a virgin as I know you've fantasized about doing many a hot chic, but has not yet come to pass. If you're going to hang on to those puritannical views of sexuality, you may as well go back to the hall.
