Bahamas: JWs versus National Insurance Board legal battle
by behemot injehovah's witnesses in nib battle.
by krystel rolle ~ guardian staff reporter ~ [email protected]:.
in a dispute that stretches back nearly two decades, the attorney representing a group of jehovah's witnesses made a final attempt yesterday to convince the court of appeal to overturn a supreme court decision which requires his clients to continue to make national insurance contributions.. attorney w. p. cathcart, who represents glen alexander colebrooke and the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses of the bahamas, laid out several reasons yesterday why the appellate court justices should do so.. the jehovah's witnesses are appealing the entire ruling of justice stephen isaacs, who dismissed their application for a review of a national insurance board's (nib) decision that requires 28 witnesses to make the contributions for a small monthly stipend that they receive.. members of the faith are not paid for service in the congregations, however, full-time branch workers like colebrooke and traveling representatives get a modest monthly allowance.. nib has said that this arrangement constitutes a contract of employment and the funds must be taxed.

Pay what is Caesar's to Caesar. NWT: dispute in court and avoid paying at all costs. Waste as much court time as possible in the process.

Ray Franz Tribute
by besty inover at freeminds we didn't want this day to pass without some recognition of the life and death of ray franz.
in view of his stated wishes not to have a memorial or service we hoped for something that he would have liked for all of us to take a moment over.. .
we owe a note of thanks to v for his graphics work and atjeff for the obituary writing - i know neither of them need mentioned by me.. .

Excellent and very fitting. As someone who knows little about Ray and just started reading CoC I'm so glad he shared some of his thoughts and experiences with us.

EASY WAY TO END IT ALL
by QuitWastingTIME ini don't understand... with all the people who are contra-watchtower - i mean all the books, all the websites, all the forums dedicated to "exposing" the watchtower "truth" - why has no one group actually just gone ahead and really exposed it?.
all the proceeds from crisis of conscience or whatever other books (many on amazon.com) or whatever spare money and time people have to create these forums for people of varying degrees of craziness and experience could all go towards one simple solution: infiltrate the governing body "enclave" meeting room with bugged mics and a hidden camera.
really, why hasn't anyone thought of that?

The silent lambs stuff made TV and was pretty powerful stuff but the Borg is still there and it doesn't get more personal than harbouring sex offenders who have preyed on innocent dubs. Granted it may have made some leave.
The Borg will talk their way out of anything - or end up removing a couple of scapegoats. If your plan were to stand any chance of success, the evidence would have to be so widely publicised and notorious that every bud would hear of it despite being told from the platform to ignore it. I can't see that a taped/filmed conversation about changing any single doctrine/policy could really do this - even if you could legally reproduce it and get Sacha Baron Cohen to introduce it.
I understand where you're coming from but I don't think there is an easy way to end it. Good luck though.

How Long Did It Actually Take You To Leave The Organization?
by minimus ini started reading "apostate" books when i was a teen at the library.
it was more curiousity than anything else.
at home, i used to read all the old publications and i'd notice how beliefs had changed.. with ray franz's books that i read clandestinely, i started to realize the truth about "the truth".

Faded for nearly a decade. I just didn't buy the 1995 generation change, was bored mindless by repetition and precise prophecies that were assumptions based on assumptions. Most of the "common sense" I heard from the platform was rubbish. By the time the Silent lambs stuff came onto TV it was just a matter of time.
I did as little as I could get away with. Went to college, sorted out my career, bought a property and was financially independent.
I reduced the number of friends I had in the truth to a handful that weren't in my KH so kept a really low profile. Was considered very weak by the end. Then came that moment of deciding to stop going - just told family that I wasn't going to go to any more meetings. Bang - the fallout was upsetting and I was watching my back for a while.
I'd built up a surrogate social world at my work which gave me the confidence to leave. Even though I knew the Truth was a lie - it is pretty hard to leave.
Free forever and it just gets better.

Are you an active Jw or an ex-jw?

Ex-JW. Born-in. Tried to believe. Was very active. Faded in the noughties and not shunned although family still in. Put most things to rest in my mind after lurking/joining JWN over the last six months. Just ordered CoC and started reading it - gripping.

A Kind Word For Brits
by metatron inexternally, we get a certain 'impression' of what living in england is like.
every third baby boy is named mohammed.
people who engage in self defense are imprisoned while criminals are given a 'firm talking to' and have their hands slapped.

And when someone treads on my toe on the underground I apologise to them. In fact we apologise far too much. Sorry if that isn't clear.
