JW sex offender sent back to jail for bid to snatch girl

a former teacher and senior jehovahs witness who tried to abduct a young girl on a flintshire housing estate is back behind bars today.. .

robert edward bill, 56, has been sentenced for an admitted an attempted abduction in holywell and breaching a sexual offences prevention order while out on bail.. .

judge elgan edwards jailed him for 30 months and disqualified him from working with children.. .

“You must be very careful in the future for if you commit another offence you will serve a very, very long time.”

So he's already served time for indecent assault, possession of indecent images, pleaded guilty of attempted abduction of a 5-year old girl for which he'll get more prison time. But then he's warned of being careful in the future? How many chances should he get? He's a proven danger to children and shouldn't be allowed out of prison.

Not sure the paper has the headline correct - I can't see he'd still be a senior JW since convicted in 2008 but do the local congregation know and have the elders made inquiries to see if there were more victims at the KH?

I can see why someone's first impression of a KH was modesty compared to the magnificant and sometime OTT churches. Anyone put off by the whole money angle of the church would find a KH refreshing.

I recall an illustration of the angels looking down on some women bathing in a pool - it might have been in the bible story book, but one of those women with long brown hair and a gap between her lips was hot hot hot - even for a six year old. I'd leave heaven for that

37% of Brits are Atheists or Aggies ?

a consumer activist site here in the u.k runs an on-line straw poll on a different subject each week.. this time the question was "what religion are you ?

the tick boxes listed all the common faiths, r.c, cof e, jewish etc, along with "other" and "non-practising".

out of 5,000 respondents 22% said non-practising.. 22% said atheist.. !3% said agnostic.. i think this may be a fair reflection of belief in the u.k today, 37% who do not believe in god, plus another 22% who are not convinced, hence non-practising.. after over 100 years of preaching the dubs are fighting a losing battle.. of course they were far too small a group to warrant their own tick-box on the survey.. .

The UK definately has a fairly strong atheistic, agnostic under-current - but has this had a positive influence on this nation - hmm......

That is a really good point. Has the UK gone downhill in recent decades and if so is it connected or indeed driven by lack of beliefs?

I've lost my religion (worked hard at leaving it behind) in the last decade and done a lot more for society in that time. I can't speak for the other 60 million here.

Email I sent to mom after huge fight today

well my mom and i got into a pretty bad argument today over the phone.

it basically came down to the fact that she couldn't handle what i was saying about the organization, etc and all she could come back to me was that i "hated her?

This is going round and round in my head. I don't know what you were trying to achieve, but someone has to spell it out to parents that they did so much wrong by bringing kids up in a cult and they should be sincerely apologising for it instead of still laying on the guilt and fear.

Hope you feel better for it - sometimes honesty is the best policy.

"You are only looking at things 'critical' of the Watchtower"

something jws say that to a lot to people who have left or are leaving the org.. i find it very a very ironic statement since the wt and awake, or any wt literature for that matter, is never critical of itself and never directly addresses refutation of their doctrine and predictions.... i was raised a witness, as many of you were.

i have been subjected to "one-side-of-the-coin" for almost 2 decades!

the only true way to bring balance to my information is to look at the other side of the coin and give it great consideration.... -sab.

More like a drug company trying to convince people their mind-control drugs are great even though independent tests say they're dangerous along with those who've managed to come off them. Only those hooked will say it's good. I suppose it's true that we're only looking at the shocking side effects and not the placebo effect.
