I wonder how the housing arrangements would work for the asexual people.

My uncle is attending foreign language 3 day 2010 summer Convention. He doesn't understand one word!
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy uncle is in his late 80's .due to many health problems,my uncle and aunt won't be able attend to the 2010 summer convention which will be in dekalb,il.
the drive is close to 90 miles from where they live.. so.....they have decided to attend a spanish convention which is 20 minutes away from home.
someone from the local kingdom hall will drop them off and pick them up each day.the sad part is that neither speaks or understands spanish.they will sit there for 3 days and not understand one word.

Lol at the elder who moved his family to Mexico! What a loser! How the hell can you "serve" when you cannot speak the local language. These are the idiots who are running the congregations. Nice.

Michael Jackson's children going in field service

I was hoping Janet would step it up a bit. Realistically, how much longer can "Sister" Jackson care for her grandchildren? 5 years? Who's taking over after? These kids seem so nice and sane, dispite everything that has gone on. The JW lifestyle must be such a shock to them. I wish some normal family could have adopted all three of them. It's not likely that they were around the Jackson Family much before Michael died.

QUESTION FROM A BORN-IN . . .WHAT HAPPENED IN YOUR LIFE THAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A JW?

I used to cringe at the sight of everyone in my congregation being so nice and acting normal around newly interested people. Especially the few sane, major-baggage-free people that came along. I knew that would only last until a short time after they got baptized. Then they would be gossiped about if they were not righteous enough.

Ok. So does this now mean that these kids no longer celebrate holidays, associate with "worldly" friends, or take karate? I'm sure double standards are being made out of WTS desperation for new members.
These poor kids!

Blondie - I loved your (I hope not) comment. Lol!
Chickpea - I'm so sorry for your loss of brother and son so many years ago. At a time like that I think I would want to believe anything of hope that came my way as well.

When I think back to my childhood, I get kinda sad. One of my first memories is of my mom dragging me down the stairs of the old Kingdumb Hell in West Allis, WI. I couldn't have been more than 3 years old. The basement was where the bathrooms were and a lot of smackings across the face went on for me. I remember vivedly hearing poor children being whipped with belts for not behaving (sitting still and being quiet for 2 hours) and mothers telling them it's for Jehovah. I remember kids crying the second their parents brought them into the Kingdumb Hell. I remember other kids getting treated better than me because both parents were "in the truth", and another mother with kids (and no husband in the cult) talking to my mom about how hurtful that is to her family. I remember my mom telling my brothers and I that my dad would die soon if he did not come to meetings. All of this . . . . by the ripe age of about 4. I could go on for days, and really should write a book.
I would be really interested in knowing why anyone would ever sign up for this crap. I know the 70's were a different time, but was anyone shocked at how children were treated? Shunning your family and former friends because they were not Witnesses? Giving up holidays for reasons that never really made much sense?
Please share your stories . . .

Good one Sapphy about the animal sacrifices. The bible stories from that ugly yellow book never really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Here's one that goes back about 20 years . . . . Remember when unbaptized publishers got removed from being a publisher due to some "wrongdoing" and were shunned like those who were disfellowshipped. You were not allowed to talk to them. Some were even young teenagers! How F-ed up is that??!!!!
As I feel deeply sorry for all of us who were born into this f--ked up religion, I question (please forgive me) why the hell anyone would sign up for this s--t?! Really . . . what horrible things happened in your life that made you think this was a good thing? Please share. (I'm making a new topic right now!)
