some of my favorite people are~.

after leaving the religion, my lesbian couple friends were the most compassionate people, and i will always love them!.

i am heterosexual, but find gays to be absolutely fabulous!!.

My apologies if this offends anyone, that's the very last thing I would want. Looking at it again, I could see how it could seem patronizing. It seems that my happy,fuzzy warm feelings backfired on me here~

ps i'm still trying to make sense of this crazy world, so bear with me. I feel like an alien myself most days and have more in common with mermaids and faeries, and find that i'm naturally drawn to unusual things and people~ people who go against the grain , and follow their inner, deepest passion , be it with art, sexuality....

~I was afraid that my comment my taken that way, as condescending or as patronizing. But i posted it anyway. because there is no need to read between the lines. i am straight and i love gay people, or as zoiks put it, 'i love people'. i noticed that there is still gay-bashing around, and i just wanted to state my experiences with people who might different in sexual orientation.

And yes there are nasty-spirited gay, straight, whatever.

I made my post as i was feeling a warm feeling for some of my closest friends, and its really that simple.

When i was at a point of desperation after leaving my children's father (this is a whole story in and of itself), my JW family wouldnot let me stay with them or loan me any money to get back on my feet .But these friends were there for me, no questions.I didn't even ask, they just offered like it was the most natural thing. They got their money back, and a friend for life.

Another gay friend at work helped me get back on my feet also, working things out so i could be promoted to my position. He is no longer with us in the body..but Rob is a Ray of Sunshine who has touched so many ~I love you, Rob!

I have personally crossed pathes with the most brilliant, artistic, beautiful, alive, kind-hearted souls whose ssexual orientation is:GAY , and i love them for being the individuals that they are~

socrates is my hero and has been ever since i re-claimed my mind when i left the wt cult.

when i read the socrates dialogues which were compiled by plato, i found my purpose in my life.. the greek political cult killed socrates because he called them on their bullshit.

he was likely the most brilliant mind of his age (or any age), but they killed him for a very obvious reason: he didn't agree with the people in power and he was much smarter than the people in power.. he knew stuff that the people in power didn't want to hear.. i know stuff that the people in the wts don't want to hear.. socrates was an incredible genius.. i'm just a hack by comparison, but i may be just as dangerous as he, but in a smaller context.

An absolute nightmare!

i had one of the most vivid nightmares that i can remember in a long time.

there i was driving with my family.

they are dressed in their sunday finest.

I remember a while ago waking from a nightmare sobbing. In the dream I was telling my mother that one of my brothers had died. I was so overcome with grief that it was suffocating me and that suffocating feeling woke me. For a second I was confused as to what was reality.

I think it was my subconcious grieving the loss of my family to the religion. But in the dream I was able to actually talk to my mother about this and she wouldn't be going against the religion, because the death of a family member is something considered serious.

I love my family so much and miss my brothers making me laugh. It hurts so bad some times.

Dreams are so fascinating I could talk all day about it

New Light @ The 2011 District Convention

" at the bottom of the image on the back of the invitation raises some eyebrows, but last night in the routine district convention article during the service meeting, i caught that one of the paragraphs mentioned that we would be encouraged to keep a copy of the tract in hand for a discussion during sunday's last talk.

my guess is, there is going to be some new revelation about what the "?

" represents, or some other fangled idea.

It just very well might be worth a phone call to my still JW family to hear their guesses on the new Twinkle Toes explaination. How can they take this seriously?!

So happy that a Prosthetic Toe Prophecy isn't what is holding my llife in the balances...unbelievable!

Come to think of it, every prophecy they have invented is a prosthetic, never a part of the real thing

Struggling

i have been df-ed for almost 9 years.

just out of curiosity, has anyone decided to find another religion or belief after being jw?

i struggle with my feelings, my mom and brother, aunt, cousins are all jw.

Hello anniegirl~

The beauty of it is that there is no need to feel pressure or urgent sense of fear to choose the 'right' way..

You can take your sweet time and discover who you really are and what you are truly drawn to. And no one can judge it , unless you let them.

Maybe we are always finding our ways to express a deep spiritual need inside, that need for what is beautiful and what brings humans together, a way to revere nature and all the awesomeness in the universe.

I call it a journey, this life. No one has all the answers. It's ok to be 'wrong' or a freak or change your mind. We can all help each other along the way. Go with your heart

There have been some excellent book recommendations here~Crisis of Conscience, Combatting Cult Mind Control and others that are absolutely priceless for people in our unique place to recover and help empty out the poison. But then I get what you are saying about what to fill yourself up with~ I say enjoy the day, love yourself..and love others. If you are looking for some peaceful words, I found some in a book called "The Four Agreements" by Miguel Ruiz. There is no one way, but I feel happier knowing that I share the planet with people like him~ The ways of nature and the Goddess are something to look into ;)

it was a beautiful, sunny day.

i was in the supermarket doing an early morning shop when i see an old friend of the family, a jw sister.. she asked me if i'd gone to the memorial and i told her no.

she said that the end is so close what with all the earthquakes and brother truthseeker, you need to come back to jehovah otherwise you will die and so will your children.

this kind of talk is their emotional defense mechanism. My parents also alluded to my imminent death at 'armageddon'. When we were having a discussion in which I expressed that I'll never be ok with something so unnatural as shunning your own child over difference in beliefs and world-views. I asked, are you really ok with this?

The response was: yes we are, it helps us to prepare for your eventual death at 'armageddon'. Surely meant to shock me 'to my senses'.

A friendly Hello

it seems now it's longer and longer between times that i come to visit this site...but there is a deep feeling inside that calls me to connect with others whose lives have been ravaged in some way by the religion.

this even a few years after leaving it all.. sometimes when it is quiet, i reflect on how it used to be..how i now live such a different life.

walking away from the religion...there are no words to describe the sense of personal freedom and strength that has followed.
