That's funny Nelly putting a monetary value on the length of assemblies.
Goodness weren't those assemblies BORING???
i see people saying this online.
my parents made us tell people tha we got gifts throughout the year and that we probably got more presents than kids get on birthdays and christmas.
however, it was a complete lie.

not sure i've ever read any experiences from former missionaries here (but i'm sure there has been) .
but it would be very interesting to know how you feel about it today.
everything you sacrificed.
Dear belbab they truly are the EVIL SLAVE to have treated you so badly.
I know of two missionaries assigned to a Far Eastern country & found the missionary home was ruled by a tyrant. After receiving very poor support from the borg they left the JW's.
Also a friend of mine who pioneered for years received a very unkind letter from London Bethel when ill health meant she could no longer remain in the pioneer work.
No 'thank you for all your effort'............hope you soon feel better, NO nothing like that just the final kicking in the stomach from the ever caring Watchtower Society.

Ex missionaries.......... It would be fascinating to hear of your reasons for leaving the control of the borg
or some of your experiences of Gilead school & in your assignment country.

We had a present day each year & my parents did the best they could on a limited income. Sometimes a part of a tree from the garden would be cut & brought indoors for us kids to decorate.
The party line though was that we had presents throughout the year, which wasn't true. However it wasn't my parents that said we should say that it was what we felt obliged to say to protect the borg.
my worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.
I hated FS absolutely hated it............an hour in the FS went in to a time warp & felt like an eternity.
I think meeting anyone with some bible knowledge was terrifying as the JW teachings were so easily demolished by Born Agains

Sister Noddy who sits on the edge of her seat nodding her head for all to see & oohing & aaahing at everything spouted from the platform as if she had never heard it all before.
Sister Giggly cos she is such a good JW and is as high as a kite on holy spirit.
has anyone heard that at the end of the theocratic service meeting last night the organisation asked for money, pensions, properties, shares, insurance policies in fact anything of any financial value?.
it upset some people attending the meeting.. .
All our JW rank & file lives the WT org has looked down on further education & careers 'in this old world' making us feel so much guilt for 'not putting the interests of the kingdom first' ie spend hour up on hour flogging their magazines & books & yet they rub their hands in glee at the thought of the stupid dubs handing over their ill gotten worldly gains.
They sit on the biggest pile of Brooklyn real estate & are spending money on more new developments............oh my the end must be sooooo close.
I despise their hypocrisy & avarice.

They said at the meeting the money would go into the 'world wide fund' & should be donated to the Watchtower Corporation of Pennsylvania.
Why is money sooooo important to them when they already own & apparently selling a huge chunk of real estate in Brooklyn?
There is something despicable about the Watchtower organisation drumming into the rank & file not to strive after a career & material riches yet rub their hands with glee at the thought of all the stupid dubs feeling guilty if they do not willingly offer all their 'gold & silver' to the BORG ...........er I mean to our most generous heavenly father to whom all the gold already belongs.

For some in attendance the pressure seemed to be different this time to give them your money.
Why aren't they relying on 'Holy Spirit' from Jehovah rather than from Mammon??
