just more proof in how being a JW hampers a healthy bond between parent and child.

Trouble For Richie
by RichieRich inas many of you know, i have a myspace.com account.. apparently, while i was out last night, someone called my mother and informed her of my activities on myspace.
my mother called and asked me for my login info, and was shocked to see me, and around 40 witnesses in my area having active profiles.
contents of these profile ranged from a few pictures to downright self-incrimination.

hey ritchie, there are plenty of places to sign on to the internet.
its sad when a parent tries to control a child's mind.
unfortunately it usually breaks a bond that can't be rebuilt.
i'm sure we'll hear from you often, especially as you get older

Something I want to tell you apostates
by LeftBehind ini want you to know that you have destroyed a family because of your lies about jehovah and his organization.
a family member went apostate and has turned his back on jehovah.
he told us he is never coming back and i know he went and visited internet sites.

Lies, Damn Lies, and "Experiences"
by AlmostAtheist inonce, discussing the recently passed circuit assembly.
he had interviewed a young pioneer that was able to pioneer without a car.
she "arranged her schedule" (translation: bummed rides well in advance) to make sure she had a way to and from the hall.

To Thine Own Self Be True, Shakespeare vs the Watchtower
by joelbear inwatchtower philosophy is basically not to trust yourself, often quoting i think jeremiah, where it says something like humans don't even know how to walk straight.
have to depend on jehovah which is not specific enough to be of any use.
does this mean, the bible, the insights you gain during prayer or meditation or a specific interpretation of god's thoughts as offered by a group of human interpreters.. shakespeare says you have to trust your own insight, judgement, etc.

Shakespeare says you have to trust your own insight, judgement, etc. based on your own gut (experience) and brain (knowledge of facts)
you cannot trust yourself if you are ignorant. you must educate yourself on everything which affects your life, which is everything.
read, research, dedicate a percentage of your TV hours to educational programs, only listen to talk shows where both sides are represented equally or alternate between those of different opinions so you can evaluate differing viewpoints. write your own thoughts down.

Pat Robertson tells town, "Don't expect God to help you"
by sir82 inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9995578/
i thought evangelism was supposed to make god more appealing to people?
the irony is, most jws will point accusing fingers at this representative of babylon the grape, but not realize that their own message preached every saturday morning is essentially the same: "worship god our way, or don't come crying to us when armageddon comes"

they all simply have different marketing techniques. think of Pat as the Howard Stern of televangelists. he says outrageous things, people tune in to hear him say outrageous things. he maka moola moola moola.

I'm sorry but
by toer5777 ini have not yet to find another organization in the world that is like jw.
yes it has made mistakes, there imperfect humans, but what other organization in the world goes preaching house to house like jesus did.
why is that jw are persecuted all over the world?
-
joelbear
good grief. there are thousands of religious tv shows that go directly into people's homes, that has to be far more productive in terms of delivering a message that actually going door to door to many empty houses.
many religions believe in paradise on earth.
many religions believe the end is near.
JW's are not unique in any way except for the fact that they charge over and over again for the same information with printed materials with new dates on them every month.
