do you believe in reincarnation?.
i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!
i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.
If there is an afterlife what would the nature of it be? If there is another reality it still must have some basic scientific principles guiding it. Or do you believe that there are some things outside of the natural spectrum?
If we live on after death, how do we move? Do we bring things in the universe to us in some telekinetic fashion? If we are alive, what is the power source? Beyond a mythological answer, such as, it comes from God.

I believe we are all part of one universal living entity that uses us to grow through experiencing new sensations.
The more new sensations we create or experience the happier we are as part of this growing entity.

i want to share a perspective, with everyone that comes here to read, for i feel it will take some of us in a new direction.
perhaps it will allow for some creative thinking and interesting discussion or maybe it simply wont go anywhere.
it does not really matter either way, for there are subjects which can only be speculated on and thoughts which can only be shared.
I believe morals and ethics are specific evolutionary survival strategies that are interwoven with our genetic ancestry.
I think religions are simply political mechanisms that have nothing really to do with morality.

are you filled with anger at the wbts or just sad that things aren't what you though they were?.
i'm very sad that my parents won't talk with my sister (da'd) or my brother (df'd) even though the society's own web-site says that such actions do not sever family ties.
I think in this case the anger and the sadness are just two sides of the same emotion. I am angry at the cause (man dominating man to his own injury) and sad at the results of exploitation.
I think about my family every day even though I try not too. I lost them all. Of course, with me, on top of the DFing is the gay thing which just completely freaks my family out even though I live a very calm gay life, settled down with a partner in a lovely suburban home. We don't even do drag (very often) hee hee. And those whips and leather thingies are just decor.

1. the fallen angels left their abodes and cohabited with the daughters of men.
So there were exactly 144,000 fallen angels? How convenient.
for a long time i have thought about yahweh, and the kind of deity that he was.
leader, savior, protector of the israelites, quick to strike down anyone who dared oppose him.
his compassion seemed to be masked beneath his jealous nature, but he had his reason and it was for "spiritual cleanliness".
Sounds amazingly like Greek Myth to me.

life as a jw is very...well...sheltered.
many experiences are outright condemned.
still, when others don't have specific rules against them, we more often than not, at least i did, choose not to engage in them so as not to stumble someone who would not approve.. very soon after my exodus from the wt i decided that life is an adventure.

I have been gone 13 years this July. The major events in my life have been.
1. Having a 12 year relationship with my life partner Mitch (today March 22, is our anniversary, YAY.
2. Pursuing an enjoyable career in banking, although I really really want to study Math, which I just started doing.
3. Travelling all across North America. I have done 2 cross country car trips, one to Las Vegas and one to Montana.
4. Making lots of friends I would have never met as a witness.

i thought i would kick of my prescence here by starting a thread!.
do the governing body really believe that armaggeddon is just around the corner?.
Belief in Armageddon is a coping mechanism. A witness, especially older witnesses like my parents, look at the world and cannot deal with the reality of what is going on around them, so they say to themselves, Armageddon must be near. It helps them cope with life to believe that it can't go on much longer.
You can't really blame them. The media, religion and politics all dwell on the worst news and the worst possible outcome to events. Happy people don't need things. You have to create fear or dissatisfaction to sell new stuff, religious activity or new ideologies.
Its a constant barrage of things to be scared of or worried about and the solution is always something that makes the fear monger richer and/or more powerful.
