It's all good, techdotcom. I'm sure we'll have a chance to have that conversation on another thread one of these days :)

the god delusion is a 2006 bestselling non-fiction book by british biologist richard dawkins, professorial fellow of new college, oxford, and inaugural holder of the charles simonyi chair for the public understanding of science at the university of oxford.. .
in the god delusion, dawkins contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that belief in a personal god qualifies as a delusion, which he defines as a persistent false belief held in the face of strong contradictory evidence.

(though i already know the answer for some people).
When someone is raped they deal with it and MOVE on with their lives.
Just so you know (cause I have a feeling this one will earn you some backlash) rape victims do move on, but the act is always with them. And like every other aspect of life, different people handle things differently. Some do decide to join communities of support for survivors, to come to terms and recover, and then stay to help others who have been hurt.
That's the way it is for some people here. For other people, they're angry. Very angry, because the harm isn't finished for them - such as those who have loved ones still inside. They need somewhere to go for advice and to vent. Other people join to be able to discuss anything from atheism to fundamental-literalism. A community has a bit of everyone, as does this forum, and most of the people here are very sincere. So again, some people continue to come here because they have made friendships.
Hope that helps you understand why people can choose to be here for so long. And I hope you are sincere as well, rather than just looking to stir things up.

Techdotcom - I'm the one who said that. I've no idea how Alice felt about it, because she did not respond. I already have faith in God, which is why I said that I personally believe that science is a method of discovering how He created things. For me, they're not in conflict.

one year sober.
got bombed today.
really upset at myself.
I'm so sorry, 5th.
Everyone screws up. Everyone makes mistakes.
Don't dwell on regret or self-anger - those will hurt you and others.
Just take a breath, strengthen your resolve, and start again.
It's all you can do.
I'll pray for you.

Tired of me? Yeah I drove the apostates crazy over at the Religion board at IMDB. They all gave up.
But coming here was completely innocent? (As in you didn't think it was apostate?)

in february of 2009 i slipped a letter of conscience under the doormat of my former book study conductor who was out of town.
that letter was written because i could not support a portion of the materials that constantly was featured in wts literature.
at the time i was a sister in good standing.
That is why I call you "sister".
Thank you, Maeve!
I feel the same. I'll miss you when you're not around an internet.

I'm glad you stayed true to your conscience, Maeve, and so happy you've been brought closer to Jesus and to God.
You're right, though. It doesn't matter if they agreed with you or not. It mattered if they would encourage you to stay true to your conscience in your thoughts and love for God. They could have tried to show or guide you otherwise in your interpretation, but not tried to get you to ignore your conscience.

a bronx woman with internal bleeding was on the verge of death, and doctors wanted to save her with a transfusion.. the only problem was the incapacitated patient's family wouldn't allow it because they are jehovah's witnesses who believe her fate is in god's hands.. the clash of modern medicine and religion led doctors at st. barnabas hospital to rush into court for an emergency order - granted tuesday by judge faviola soto.. "the attending physician felt it was urgent that if she didn't get a transfusion, she would die," said st. barnabas spokesman steven clark.
"hopefully, the patient will be okay now.".
the patient, jean leslie, 55, is a stroke victim who had been living in the st. barnabas nursing home since 2008.. she was admitted to the hospital on may 21 when doctors noticed a problem with some blood tests, according to court papers.
Be interested to know if she is a JW, after she wakes and is coherent.

Yknot - I don't know how the WTS defines truth. I didn't know they had a specific definition. Now I'm curious about it. I'll wait until Alice looks it up and posts it, though.
