I think what gets me about the contents of the talks is the paranoia and desperation:
- yes brothers, we know you aren't feeling urgency, but honest, honest, honest, the end is coming
- umm... field service is fun, right?
- reiterate our own history in a distorted way so many times that it must have happened that way
i don't know about everyone else but i just want to get these stories of godly/demonic intervention out of my system.
hope it doesn't bore you but some are a good laugh now but i truly believed them and some i still believe.. 1. don't open that cabinet- one day my dear step mother was cleaning the kitchen and needed something out of a cabinet that was rarely used.
there was a plastic cake dish that makes this very audible noise when trying to close it(lil cheap cake from winn dixie).

my daughter called me today and said "mom....i went to the watchtower.org website and clicked on 'i wanna start a bible study'.
shortly thereafter, sister sweetiepie calls on my daughter and sets up a weekly study and leaves her with wt mags.. not even an hour has passed and my daughter is shopping and another sister, "sister blabbermouth" spots her and says, "i heard the good news" gives her more magazines (she's just found a place to dump more mags) and then asks her, "why didnt you ask your mom for a study?
a Bible Study form? wow... sounds like an opportunity for some mischief...
since there have been so many recent threads on charles taze russell, the 1st president of the watch tower society, would you ever consider following that movement?
would you ever want to become a "bible student" and learn from the writings of russell so that you could understand "divine truths"?
Yes but RR doesn't paint him as a saint either. I think you'd be surprised at the result trying to go head-to-head with him. The man KNOWS his Russell history.

I always heard variations on the Smurf story. The story went that a little girl had a Wizard Smurf at a meeting in her hands. During the talk the smurf got up and ran down the aisle out of the Kingdom Hall. The funniest retelling of this story was by someone on the board who purported that the smurf said "I've had enough of this sh!t", to which the story spoke of how envious he was that the smurf actually got to leave the meeting.

While I never would become a Bible Student, I don't think that they are trying to get converts on this board. RR is probably the chief poster of the Bible Students on here and in my estimation he's a good guy with an intelligent head on his shoulders. I've never seen evidence of him trying to "convert" anyone. He's usually the first to debunk a lot of the myths about Russell (ie. Mason, occult etc) and writes very intelligently and respectfully. We should thank the Bible Students for their WT reprints as well.
