2034 the new "END" date for the WTS it is a fact!!!
by justhuman inin the wt article 15 december 2003 the wt tried to set a new date for the end, by connecting the sign of the end given by jesus when he used the exampe of noah.
noah preached for 120 years and then the end came.
so simillar it will be during the last days when they started in 1914 with jesus taking the throne in heaven.

IMHO I think if they do go ahead with 2034 as speculative prophecy (and I don't think they will), it will definitely not be in print. Instead it will be via suggestion from the company men (ie. COs and DOs) who will start to spread that message via public talks etc. They (WTS) know all too well that they will be held to reckon for anything they put in print in the future because of easy access to information.
That's basically why I doubt they will do anything to propose another date. They seem to be saying more recently that Bible Prophecy (TM) is best understood AFTER it has been fulfilled. In other words they are prepping the masses to be on their toes.
"We aren't giving you a date, but watch out! Prophecy has said the end is coming sometime soon. We won't know in advance exactly when, so you don't want to be caught off-guard at all - we'll know after it happens."
This is about the only approach they can take. If they point to any sort of date at all, there will be hell to pay when it doesn't come true. But they need something to keep the publishers motivated (in fear). So their only option is really to keep saying "real soon now" and that there WON'T be any specific warning of a particular date to work towards. In the long run some people will get weary of this. Others can be kept under fear. I think they probably publish a lot of articles about how various judgements came about in the past without specific warning. They will turn the heat up on the publishers with the unknown that could strike at any time - they can't work the other date specific angle anymore - it's too risky to their already shaky credibility internally. You can't raise paranoia levels too much either without people freaking.

Wild Turkey or Jim Beam?
by under74 ini think i'm partial to wild turkey but i do like jim beam (black label).
i used to like jack daniels but they've lowered the proof so i refuse to buy it now.
one of my friends is convinced they both taste like piss...i don't quite understand that...i mean they both do what they're supposed and they don't taste bad to me....any preferences out there?

I received a bottle of Single Barrel Jack Daniels - now I can hardly drink Wild Turkey, regular Jacks. Jim Beam is my fave bourbon. Straight up.

by Englishman innumber 1 son, simon, is now living in coventry with his beloved lady and his little lad, charlie.. yesterday, hl and i went to visit them.
it's only a 2 1/2 hour run, so we just popped up for lunch.. while we were eating our lunch by the window, we spotted several people walking slowly up the street.
i said to simon: "them's witnesses!

Then in justification, she asked me if I couldn't overlook them having made just one mistake!
It's really sad isn't it, when they want to believe something so badly that they are willing rationalize and excuse things so eggregious, isn't it? The consequences of accepting that the WTS is a false prophet and merely a publishing company are just too great to accept for most JWs. My brother made a good point the other day that to them, that is proof in of itself that it must be the truth (ie. it not being the truth would be far too painful to accept and hence can't even be a possiblity). I too met some nice sisters who called on me and I truly felt bad for them when we got into that discussion on 1975.

Kingdumb Halls...crying poor. Are they really?
by kwintestal infor the last 2 1/2 years of my jw experience, the kh was always saying how they had no money to pay the bills.
they started holding "dollar days" at the meetings to get donations (the idea was everyone brought a dollar a meeting on top of their normal donation).
finances reportedly got so bad that they had to decide to buy oil for the furnace, or plow the driveway one winter.

I never had a problem with the call to meet the congregation's needs as far as Kingdom Hall upkeep etc. After all, if you are going to be part of a community and using the facilities, you should be supporting them.
HOWEVER, I did have a problem with 2 things:
1 - There would be the cry from the platform that we were in the red and needed to make up a deficit, yet as mentioned previously, the donation to the Society ALWAYS went regardless of whether there was money or not. Huh? Same deal at the assemblies with regard to paying the WTS $10K or some stupid number and then announcing on Sunday at noon there was a shortfall.
2 - The fact that the WTS took over ownership of the Kingdom Hall's, and that they charged interest to the local halls on the loans from the Building Fund when in fact that friggin' money came from donations in the first place. That to me was the sign things were a major scam. It was so far removed from the original model Russell set up of autonomous congregations.

You couldn't be more correct Scully. Nocturne and I formed a band called "The Bad Associates" - our debut album will be entitled "Spoiling Useful Habits".

The Will JW kids/students be the next big threat to the Watchtower Society?
by truthseeker inthe internet has only been around for 10 years, yet it has profoundly changed the way we live, work and entertain ourselves.
particularly for children, they have readily adapted to this technology so much so, that teachers and educators are finding that their traditional based curriculums are leaving kids bored.
these are the kids who are used to surfing, instant messenging and downloading digital music.

I am sure that the WTS must KNOW that they are in jeopardy of losing the young ones. They are attacking it at the other end as well by getting the old-timers to donate $$$ in their wills etc. to the Society. Credits cards? Sure - why not run yourself into debt to contribute to the WTS - you might not have to pay that credit card bill if the end comes soon!
