rather, it is because tony blair has proven to be a stand-up statesman who has been able to work well with two very different us administrations, clinton then bush ... while keeping his own moral clarity and vision.
if tony blair represents the majority of british sentiments, then the usa can thank its lucky stars as having such a close friend and ally ... and americans need to better appreciate our british brethern.

Animal, I guess I am shunning those who shun, though I think I'm only just now recognizing it. I'm wondering if that's a healthy attitude, long-term (it's really worked out for the best for you for 30 years?!!).

i was just curious if any of you growing up in the truth were overly scared of armageddon?.
when my mom came into the org.
in the 70's,the only so called kids book was the paradise lost book.the pictures in that book scared the pants off me!at night when i was lying in bed,if i would hear a loud plane go over head,or there was a thunder storm,i was sure it was the start of armageddon and i would be sooooo scared.i was wondering if i was the only one overly scared,or if their were others.. also,was anyone out there extremely frightened of the demons?i would hear all these crazy experiences of people having problems with demons,and i was sooo frightened they would come bother me.maybe i was just a big old scaredycat,but if any one else has any experiences,please post them!
My witness parents are certainly scared of Armageddon. My mothers last words to me when I DA'd myself was, "I just don't want you to die at Armageddon." Thanks mom, that's sweet.

monday: family bible study (this is when i would get yelled at for not reading the scriptures properly) .
tuesday: meeting night .
wednesday: i`m free .
Wow beans, our schedules were so similar we could be the same person (oh wait, we were all witness drones so I guess we all pretty much were)!
The only difference I notice is that Monday night family study was more of a concept than an actual practice for our family. It was always an on-again-off-again thing.

I know that this can be painful for many and I wonder why it doesn't seem to bother me? Oh sure, I play the shunning card for sympathy from time to time, but I'm not really that bummed about it.
Which presents a follow-up concern. I think it's possible that I DA'd myself in part to escape from family and friends I never really liked or felt close to. I could have attempted the fade away (as many do) in order to remain close to everyone, but I convinced myself that I openly DA'd myself to gain closure... to distance myself forcefully and honestly... Blah, blah, blah. I'm not so sure anymore that that isn't just noble sounding justification for something a lot uglier.
Anyway, there just seems to definitely be something wrong. It's easy to blame WT for everything, even things that are more a feature of personal nature. I'm wondering, since most on the board seem so frankly loving and personable, if it's fair for me to blame the WT. Many here express such sincere and bitter pain when speaking of being cutoff from close family (and my heart really does go out to them) that I'm left thinking... has anyone experienced what I'm going through? Just kinda curious.

Larc, that's why you get your wise ass friend who's family has money to sit with you and bring his binoculars. Of course my parents were always monitoring so we could only scope the chicks sitting in the general line of vision of the speaker (how could my parents possibly think I wanted a better look at the speaker? Like I hadn't seen enough know it all elders?)...but we still found plenty of eye candy to keep our attention.
my children and i just returned from a trip to germany where we visited my deceased husbands parents, his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and assorted cousins, all of who are jehovahs witnesses.. before we left, the children and i agreed that since their grandparents were old people and not in good health, it would be an act of loving consideration not to cause them any further distress by announcing that we were no longer active in the congregation.
so we went prepared to attend meetings, to go out in field service and to pretend that we were still die hard jehovahs witnesses.
we packed the proper kingdom hall attire, suits, ties, ankle length dresses, as well as our bibles and songbooks.. i suppose to some this may seem the cowards way out, that i should have just announced our new status and let the chips fall where they may.
I cut my hair to make a wig for a child who was suffering from cancer and the chemotherapy had caused her to lose her hair.
