Question about moving from one congregation to another
by dgp ini understand that, if you want to move from a congregation to another, you need some sort of a letter from the previous congregation.
i suppose that would be the root of many an abuse by the elders of the old congregation.
what can you guys tell me?.

that's one thing I NEVER EVER EVER liked. The whole "we're keeping a record on you, but you're not allowed to know what it says" thing. Who the F*CK do they think they are?!?!?! I mean, how UNchristian can you be, keeping track of EVERY SINGLE FLAW a person has and then freely passing that along to wherever they move??? Sure, MAYBE there are some good things mentioned in these letters or on these "publisher cards".....but in all reality, we all know that it was just a way to keep track of who screwed up, when, and how.
grrr....sorry....it's just friggin STUPID.

"they all laugh it off and continue and admit their mistakes" - on a kh level, giving the talk for next/last weeks subject material can be laughed off... but on a WORLDWIDE level....insinuating that you shouldn't read any of the society's literature before a certain date because it is now apparently magically apostate?? That is not admitting anything. That's trying to sweep the past under a rug in the hopes that nobody will notice. Instead of admitting "we were wrong on such and such issue and here is the scripturally correct view"....they try to HIDE "former" teachings by telling us not to look into the older publications....and YET...they will sit there and quote older publications when it suits them.
it's all secrets and cover-ups. there is no admission of anything.

My Dad Died Today

he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.
i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .
