  To me, as someone who has learned to dismiss the Bible as the words of men instead of God, there is some validity in what is said here. But it seems more like another example of Bible-followers reading different things in the same book by selective application and reasoning. "We're gay and see the anti-gay in the Bible as XYZ instead of ABC."

  I completely agree that the Bible is the word of men.

  Not sure if you noticed, but Miner explained how the Greek word that the Roman centurion uses in Matthew 19:10-12 to describe the sick man – pais – is the same word used in ancient Greek to refer to a same-gender partner. This is not exactly an opinion or a viewpoint. "Same-gender partner" is what the word "pais" actually means, but has erroneously been rendered "servant" by the translators. We are given to believe, and wrongly so, that there were no homosexuals in ancient times, and that Jesus was dealing with a master-servant, not a loving same sex couple. The erroneous language text translation forces us to read the passage from a heterosexual point of view whereas the true rendering of the word, "pais" allows us to read and accept the truth about what was really going on during this healing miracle Jesus performed.

  Again, I agree the Bible is the word of men, however, many do not. There are many homosexuals who believe in the Christian god and Jesus who need to understand they have been short-changed and alienated from their god by bigots and homophobes who have seemingly and deliberately made Christianity a club for breeders when the times the books were written about recognized these people as valuable assetts to the communities.

  Don't stop if you can manage to keep going. You will change lives ;)

  this is a little disappointing because i was looking forward to a discussion about homosexuality and the bible that people could really sink their teeth into.. .

  PC . . . I have just finished listening to your first broadcast from start to finish. Your guest and the discussion you had was exceptionally well developed. My wife and I along with one of my sons listened with great interest, looking up cited scriptures from several translations as the discussion unfolded. Especially poignant were the points raised from 1.20 onwards. You have taken me through a learning curve that I am still ascending and look forward to elaborating further.

  The following is from the introduction or preamble of this web cast:

  ""There are certain beliefs about the Bible and Christianity we are not encouraged to question. And if you are one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, you don’t have the luxury of questioning WT doctrine. And these are often the beliefs upon which we are asked to make important life decisions. These are the areas where we should test, and scrutinize, and look for misinformation. And where those who presume authority to teach doctrine, that is, those taking the lead, the big names in those fields, should apply the same stringency, because often we’re making those life decisions based on the information we get from those people."

  It really makes a difference when a person follows along and reads these passages with an entirely different perspective and context. It also takes time, evaluation, and meditation to readjust your viewpoint on a deeply entrenched belief you have held your entire life. It simply does not happen in an instant for most. That was the idea behind doing this show- to plant a seed, open some eyes, hold anti-gay scriptural dogma upto the light of context and language text translation.

  Going to try quitting smoking again...

  seriously this time.

  its not the nicotine that drives me nuts (i chew the gum) it's that hand mouth desire or lack of it.

  i am finding myself chewing on pencils or whatever else is around me.

  I just successfully quit. I started out with Chantix. I smoked for a week on chantix, then had a mental break through and found the firm resolve to crush my pack and toss them into the garbage can at the gym, lol.

  I had one really bad day going through nicotene withdrawals in which I really wanted to cut somebody's throat. I went on Rick Fearon's Six Screens conference call instead.

  Anyway, I made it two weeks tobacco free, BUT I also had the hand mouth suck drag blow thing going on, especially around coffee time and after meals. I bought a pack of Cannibus Free smokes. Tobacco free, nicotene free herbal cigs. They don't taste completely horrible and at least you are smoking lol.

  

  They helped with the urges. They are non addicting and by the time I had finished my first pack of these things, I was pretty much over them.

  I did not complete the entire chantix regiment, and got off the stuff half way into my third week of taking it. but I had quit smoking before, about four years ago, and I knew I was past the worst of the withdrawals and felt that I no longer needed that kind of help/crutch.

  I stopped the chantix and I am now taking zyban.

  Together with exercise, the zyban is keeping the weight off, keeping the urges at a manageable level, and stabilizing my moods for now.

  The first time I quit smoking four years ago, I gained a lot of weight. Below is a before and after shot, fat me on my 40th birthday, then how I look currently and after the first year of changes- just to let you know that no matter what kind of shape you are in, you can recover and turn it around.

  

  I have changed the way I eat, what I eat, and my energy level has gone through the roof. I have more stamina, strength, and health than when I was 21. I am 44 now.

  I am not trying to impress you, or anyone else. I am trying to impress upon you that you can do it. You can be successful in quitting and finding awesome health again.

  My first guest unflaked. There was a misunderstanding with regard scheduling. He is kind of a busy guy. But we did the interview today and it is here for you to download and listen to. I hope you enjoy the information.

  I did this program because I felt the information was very unique and important. I had promised to get this information out, I felt more than a little obligated in light of how I was attacked on Fearon's conference call, and the subsequent accusations by Fearon that I was a WT schill posing as a homosexual to throw everyone off the trail in order to discredit Six Screens . . . and really cool discussions about homosexuality on this board lately, and so here we are. Not sure if there will be anymore . . . but here is a really nice interview with a Christian minister guy who knows his homosexical history, language translegistration, and scriptural contextuality.

  I don't think I ever said I was going to do a talk show in order to show Rick a damn thing, and I am pretty "amused" at your pettiness in inventing something I not only did not say, but something I never even so much as inferred.

  If you can find a reference, please post it. I would never presume to show Fearon how to do anything. He is a grown man AND a Christian minister, and if he does not know by now that lying, hoaxing, exaggerating and sensationalizing is immoral and unethical, and counter-productive to his proclaimed cause, he never will. His god has not taught him anything. I am sure he would refuse any lessons from a tired old vacation-needing fisher of fishes like me.

  I have always been an advocate for things I believe in, and I have produced videos out of pocket and with no personal credit, not to compete with anyone, especially not a third-rate hack like Fearon, but because I would rather do something more to genuinely help others I have compassion for rather than sit on a message board racking up 9,000 posts.

  If you have done more behind the scenes work that you don't take credit for, then I apologize for calling you a career message forum poster and giver of biased opinion. You have my respect.

  Now, I have always liked you, and I never forgot how you were so generous and offered to provide me with signs to use in picketing and demonstrating when I was trying to get custody of my kids and . . .

  Oh, wait . . .

  You make signs . . .

  I see . . . ahem. Could this be an indication, or um, a "sign" of the nature of your curious blind support and defense of Mr. Fearon?
