Dating a JW :-(
by MIADanny ini have been dating a jw for 2 years now and everything has been going great other than the fact that she is in a cult.
she at first tried to convince me to join but she quickly realized i wasnt believer.
in this age of information i just dont see how so many people can fall victim to this religion.

Reply to Married to mob:
1) Does she drink Yes
2) Do her parents know about her relationship with you; Yes, her mom is not that crazy into it but goes to meetings
3) Are you having sex Yes, cant hold 2 years..lol
3b) Does she give head yes..but even like non JW not that often..lol
4) Does she have any tattoos no
5)Does she have a FB account yes
6) Does she wear sexy clothes? not really that much
7) does she do field service or meetings on a regular basis or when given the option of you or FS /meeting are you first choice? Yes she has started going more now, but usually when im at work anyways.
8) Does she celebrate your birthday others birthdays? no but she does the old go out to dinner the day before your b-day and have a cake with no candles. I have told her that this is still celebrating just finding a grey area in the rule.
Im 29 and she is 24. I think it is selfish of me to ask her to leave her religion or try to aske her to make a choice but we are at the point now where she is talking marriage and I know that i dont want to raise the kids JW or have become really strict with her religion and rule out all the fun stuff. so we are going to have to have that talk.

Yeah I think what worked at first is that she was not going to meetings that much. It has become more of a issue now becuase she has been becoming much more involved and trying to get baptised soon. She even mentioned stopping any sex until getting married which became a huge red flag for me. I think I may try approaching her a non-confrontation way and asking some though provaking questions. If she will have a not open mind with me I try and make it work if not I will have to let her go.
FYI: I recently was invited to my first party with some members of her hall. I will tell you that the younger JW crowd I met are much less conservative than I thought they would be...lol They a even had drinking game at their party.

Yeah I figured this a repeated topic. I had been googling her religion and this forum came up. She is a great girl, I just figure there is hope becuase she is young and is not so strict with the rules in the religion. I kind of figure anything I say she will consider me a apostate and that will ruin any rational conversation on the matter. It hurts but i think I know the answer to my question. Thanks for the advise guys!

I have been dating a JW for 2 years now and everything has been going great other than the fact that she is in a cult. She at first tried to convince me to join but she quickly realized I wasn’t believer. In this age of information I just don’t see how so many people can fall victim to this religion. I am torn with the choice of breaking this off or really attempting to show her how wrong her religion is. I know I don’t want to marry into that religion but I don’t want to let her go. People I have spoken to have told me it would be wrong to try and get her out of that religion but isn’t that what they do when they knock on doors?
