  when you first heard for raymond victor franz?

  and who told you about him?.

  in my case, one special pioneer, who still serves as a special pioneer, asked me litterally this:.

  It must have been the late 80s and the topic of apostasy in Brooklyn was being discussed by a few ... I remember hearing that the society's President's nephew, with the same surname Franz, had gone apostate ....

  The next time it was mentioned was when I was recommending the Commentary on the book of James to a struggling sister, this would have been the 90s...it was/is my favourite Witness publication ...an elder pointed out to me that this book was no longer considered to be acceptable since it was written by Ray Franz who'd gone apostate...I couldnt believe it....however, it gradually went out of print...

  The next time I heard about him was when I decided to have a browse online 3 years after leaving ....and his books were recommended on a forum...

  another friend in "the truth" has died.

  this and dear brother ray's condition .... too much.. how do you cope?.

  Grief is a terrible thing and sadly must run its course...the outpouring of it over Ray's death is astounding and I have a feeling it will make a difference ...not sure how or why ...its just a feeling...

  Well done for packing in the cigs...they're poison...I packed in last week with the aid of Champix...am on Day 7 now and doing ok...miss them but not gasping and saving ££££s

  Ray Franz has had a stroke

  just setting the record straight.

  there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.

  he is still alive.

  I didn't know what a JW was, until I fell for one

  when i fell for him i was completely unaware of his upbringing as a jw and only became aware once he decided to leave a few months back.

  being raised without much of a religious basis, besides the typical western christian exposure, i have researched, read, attended groups, read in this forum, to try to better understand him, and jws, but i am feeling at a loss here.

  he just recently left the jws and now i am experiencing this struggle with him; i am wondering how much of our problems can be contributed to this transition.

  I understand your desire to stay if you love him so much ...I remember being in your shoes...I stayed for nearly 30 years and kept trying to 'love' him better...it failed miserably and cost our children the security and happiness of a normal father too....think very carefully while you're trying to help him and try to be objective....the worrying thing for me is that he wants you to be in a 'passive' role before he can show you love....thats not a good sign...you have the absolute right to be YOU and not some toned down version to suit anyone...

  Dont stay in a relationship with anyone who treats you less than precious....trust me it wont improve...if he feels able to call the shots to this extent you are onto a loser....you dont need to put up with controlling or abuse from anyone from any religion...I agree you should walk away and keep in mind the following :

  Dont let anyone put you down; and dont do it to yourself.

  We need a national story about Ray Franz's life

  like everyone else here, i am praying for ray to pull through this medical crisis, but i realize the odds are not good.

  i know it's not something people want to think about, their obituary, but i contacted a religion journalist and told her about ray franz, his life at bethel and his books.

  i hope she passes the information on to the rest of the writers on their religion blog.

  I absolutely agree that we should do something BIG to mark this man's contribution to us all and to those in the future who will benefit from his dedicated work and integrity. I'm in the UK but am happy to join in anyway I can be of assistance if someone wants to put some ideas into practice?

  youths, but please keep it within jw boundaries because i don't want to give my elders any hint of me being an apostate yet.. i have to say that i am still enjoying my newly given "priviledges'', and am still so surprised that holy spirit has'nt pointed me out yet.. agbm.

  What is the meaning in "Praying" for someone about to die ?

  im not sure i understand why we do this.

  i met r.franz after i left jws and meeting him was a nice experience.

  it was a kind of turning point in my life and i guess his books helped put the final nail in the coffin of my departure from jws.

  We all come from different perspectives...I personally feel that praying for someone especially when their life is on the line is the very best I can do for them. That's probably because while I feel helpless I have no doubt at all that God has the unlimited power to ease suffering and/or reward people, according to his will. I'm happy to leave it with him cos I trust him.... and when I pray thats what I do...
