  My mom opened up for the first time.

  i could write paragraph after paragraph to explain the situation, my leaving, my influence on my mom and siblings, etc.. but i will keep it short.. my mom is inactive and she has always liked having conversations with me about almost any topic.

  for a long time though she would not touch the subject of the watchtower organization when i brought it up, i could tell she still believed that talking bad about the organization was a sin.. but last weekend we were having our usual conversation that we have now and then.

  the topic of religion and god was brought up.

  we live in a 2nd floor apartment so they had to ring the buzzer ...2 ladies wanting to leave me a 'little tract'...after confirming they were jws i said:.

  "please dont - may i suggest you go away and read the book 'crisis of conscience' by ray franz before you leave anymore of the tracts?

  then you'll understand what actually goes on in the new york bethel.".

  We live in a 2nd floor apartment so they had to ring the buzzer ...2 ladies wanting to leave me a 'little tract'...after confirming they were JWs I said:

  "Please dont - may I suggest you go away and read the book 'Crisis of Conscience' by Ray Franz before you leave anymore of the tracts? Then you'll understand what actually goes on in the New York Bethel."

  One asked if I'd been a Witness and said how sorry she was that I wasnt happy with the WTBS and wondered why.

  I told her "Its destroyed my family and 30 years of my life - I do recommend you read the book so that you might rescue your own."

  End of conversation....who knows but they probably think I'm an apostate nutter. I tried to sound sincere and authentic....am angry now though.

  What do you think about the anointed?

  do you think most of those who claim to be anointed are faking it or do you think they actually believe they are anointed?

  What proof do you think they should provide? Tongues of fire come down on their heads? That only happened at Pentecost 33 C.E.

  What proof did Christians provide in the first century?

  It's supposed to be between them and God. If they falsely claim, then it is between them and God.

  In the end the requirements to be a Christian are the same for all, no separate requirements for anointed and non-anointed.

  I would like to hear your experiences with being SHUNNED

  i am going to put together a page of short experiences of how shunning has affected exjws.

  you do not have to be disfellowshipped, even if you were shunned after being marked or after fading.

  all comments are welcome, such as who shunned you, how long since family have spoken to you, what your situation is, why you are being shunned and how it has made you feel.

  Well....following my Dfing 4 of my adult kids shunned me as per the rules. The youngest was under age and still at home so that was ok. All my friends in the Org shunned me except one who stays in touch via texts. Once my youngest was 16 the older ones plotted to get her out and she went to stay with an older sibling to do her A levels which appeared to be a good opportunity but once she was there despite her promises she too began shunning me, and still does.

  My eldest daughter had her first child last year, he has Downs Syndrone. I was told not to visit the hospital because of the JWs visiting. My new husband took me there between visiting hours and told me to go in and meet my grandson whatever anyone said. I did that. Afterwards I got a message telling me not to visit again because of the Dfing rules.

  Easy to write this down coldly but my heart has been broken and despite rebuilding a good life now I am suffering horrendous nightmares which suggests I might need some therapy for all this loss....

  Ps Six months after the Dfing I developed a small breast cancer. The drs insisted it was a result of the trauma of Dfing.

  How to secretly record an elders meeting?

  one in which you are present, as if only one party is aware or doing it, it's legal.

  is there a fairly inexpensive device can buy which either in a pocket or somewhere discreet can get a good recording of up to 2 - 3 hours?

  my birthday is coming up next week.

  ever since leaving the watchtower i aways do something on or round that day with my sister.

  we usually go to lunch and do something like see a movie, play golf, or spend the day at the beach together.
