Enh.....not sure about that......I don't drink NEAR as much as the JW's around here....they are perpetually drinking/drunk.....especially the elder's wives (but I probably would be too if married to them)
I like a good cigar.
And yes......I love women. But I loved women while I was a single JW elder. Now, I just get a bigger pool to fish in......the JW girls were terrible.
Oh......I forgot....I continue to watch R rated movies!!! LOL LOL

this has been asked before, however i thought it may be good for newer members of the board to read some of our reasons on how we decided to exit the jw cult and why we decided to do it the way we did.. first off - i have been faded for almost 8 years.
essentially i decided to fade into inactivity and not da because i have elderly jw parents who would shun me if i did get dfed or daed myself.
also- i like keeping open the possibilities that some of my many jw relatives may in time start doubting and have questions and reach out to me in my inactive state.
Every time I read a thread like this I'm just STUNNED at how many have DA's themselves, allowed shepherding calls, etc.
These 'elders' have no power unless you give it to them.
I faded almost 3 years ago. I'm open about how I feel if asked....just last week, I lost a friend of 34 years.....an elder....who didn't even know what "generations" was..........
They leave me alone. I have no problem giving them a look of death if they try to approach. I also knew how EASY it would be to lose my cards.....they are floating around somewhere..... lost in a file somewhere.....
I still have many on my Facebook.....even though they KNOW my current state. The 'elders' leave me alone......I believe mostly because of my years as an elder and the library of dirt I have on ALLLLLLL of them in the circuit.

Even "worldly" publications print retractions.....have you ever seen the WT do that?? EVER???
Even more important.....since they were clearly wrong about the "generations".....do they currently have a plan in place globally to go out and retrieve those people that we right about the 'generation'.....left over it, were slandered and called apostates?
Has your congregation elders went into action to do anything humanly possible to retrieve these people that were validated by the 'new light?'

hey... a good friend of mine was visited by 2 elders this evening..and after being treated like something you wouldn't want on your shoe...told her that her parents can no longer have anything to do with her 9 year old boy.
he is not baptized.. her dad is an elder and mum a long standing publisher...can they really insist that the grandparents ignore the child??
they babysit for him when she's at work...she would have to leave her job, and she lives in their house too..although they live elsewhere...her dad is researching this as he is obviously curious as to whether this is scriptural.
I don't understand....I NEVER understand......why did she agree to meet with them?????

I appreciate you sharing....I'm trying to explore how much of my issue is me and how much of it is the influence of JWs and my bad experiences.... always good to hear how others have adjusted.

My experience has been similar to NewChapter.
I was divorced in 2004, still a 'bigshot' elder....and now suddenly single in my 30's. It was terrible. It was like being red meat in a lion's cage. "Sisters" (yeah right) came out of the wood work; as young as 24....."get the elder".....its was sick...and to be honest, I think it really damaged me....
I have a file of "sisters" emails, texts, pics etc........sent to me with sex talk, pictures of boobs, etc. Many of them MARRIED.
My dating pool expanded dramatically and I came to realize there might actually be a nice girl out there..... but I'm still single and have commitment issues..... most of it from my time as an elder dealing with the many miserable marriages with 'the happiest people on earth' ......
NewChapter.....always curious.......how did you get back out there dating?

i recently completed an exhaustive review of an unofficial copy of the new elders manual.
my father, who is currently serving as an elder told me a friend of his in the service department told him it was on the internet so i eagerly looked for it and found it.
yes, i know it was a violation of copyright, but while at bethel i made copies of many technical manuals which is also a copy of copyright so the wts hypocrisy does not concern me.. i was appointed as an elder the year the pay attention book (manual replaced by this one) was released so i have very good working knowledge of the old book and could compare the two books.

However, your apology at the end resonated with me. I was an elder 11 years......and filled it with aout 40 of activity/"privileges".....
I still have nightmares of some of the things I did under their direction. I crushes me...... and I was considered the "loving elder"

son, i understand that your mother has given you "the talk" - about the facts of life and it's important that you know about these things now that you are becoming a man.. i appreciate your mother and all the sacrifices she has made to keep you healthy and out-of-trouble so far.
however, there's just one more thing we need to talk about - and that is that you need to know some things about women.
