  question about "talking" to JW concer...

  i've been dating a jw for almost 3 1/2 years - about a month ago i found out that 3 elders from my boyfriend's kingdom hall we're going to have a meeting with my boyfriend about dating me.

  when i asked why this meeting was going to take place, my boyfriend said that it was because he was dating someone who isn't a jehovah's witness.

  this really hurt me, and it hurt even more when i found out that they had already talked to him once before, and he did not tell me about it.

  1st let me say that if the elders already spoke to your boyfriend b4 and he is still with you....well I don't think you will loose him!

  There are alot of things in the JW community that realy are rigid and incorrect. But, for many It is away of life they grew up with and they choose this as thier community.....calling themselves"Jehovah's People".

  Many realy feel this and even when they know certain beliefs are not so.....or certain people are unbarable they choose to stay.

  Your boyfriend loves you this is obvious. Still also he must love the JW way of life or he would have left sometime during his 3 1/2 years with you.

  My advice to you is scince you wish to marry a man who probly will never give up this "Religion"....is to just read the mags and books with a grounded mind....so as not to get caught up in it......so you know whwre he is coming from and what is going on.....like this little elder visit.

  The more you know....the more you have to defend your relationship with your guy......especially if you marry him.

  For instance....some in the bible such as Esau and Moses married women whowere not considered Jehovah's people. Ruth was married to an Isralite and Rehab helped the isrealite spies and is in the line of Our Savior Christ Jesus.

  There is a saying KNOWLEDGE Is POWER. The more you know about your boyfriend's faith....the more secure your relationship will be.

  There are articles that although discurage marrage to a non-JW also point out that it is not a Disfellowshipping offence.

  If you gather all this information you will be helping your guy to have a smoother time keeping his chosen faith and his chosen wife.

  I do know that self rightious elders can make things hard but, if you and your intended are armed with love, the bible and(Unfortunately) the liturature...you both should make it for ever after.

  A friend of mine married his "worldly" gurl and they are extreemly happy! She will not be presured and he will not allow her to be presured. Now and again she attends meetings with him just to be by his side. They are one of the loveliest couples I know! So made for each other!

  I hope what I have said has helped you at least some.

  My fear of people is getting worse!

  today i had the day off from my job.

  my plan today was to put gas in my car, wash my car, and go to the nearest ford dealership to get my oil changed.

  seemed simple enough, but it was strange.

  If you can try getting together with ex-jw's near you.

  I have not done this yet....probly will possible.

  This is from being a Jehovah's Witness all these years.

  In myself I find there is an invisble wall between me and everyone I meet.....never being able to truely connect. They were once "worldly" to me off limits and still seem to be.

  I actually drop a very important activity for me because of this invisible wall.While still a JW I had returned to playing my instrument in a group I had left many years ago. Although everyone remembered me and was warm and friendly I felt very unconnected and akward. Having been a performer I could play it off so no one noticed but still this akwardness was there. As i found out about "The Truth" I became more uneasy!! You'd think it be the oppistie but, instead I feel even more removed as before I would preach to them about God's coming Kingdom.....and now what do I say? See informal Witnessing was my verbal wall between me and "Worldly" Now i have no such protection and I have nothing inbetween me and them. Wierd....right?

  Anyway....my plan is to go back in the new year ....atke a deep breath and act like I am normal and life has always been great! I know I can do this as I have numerous times throughout my life.

  Eventually it becomes "The Real" me and I'm glued together with no noticable cracks.

  I have to run for now....but if you want e-mail me and we can talk......I find talking with someone who is going through it realy helps......Dede/lyineyes has been a real help to me....her and Nelly.....pettygrudger....etc...reading everyones posts is good therapy too.

  take deep breaths Gil relax and move forward.....ever see "What About Bob?" Baby steps dude!

  I love the e-mail you sent your brother!!! I can not understand how he could call it sewage!!

  You wrote" The Watchtower constantly changes; therefore it cannot be trusted. The bible never changes; therefore you can trust it alone for your salvation."

  That is pure beauty my friend.....pure beauty! I am surprised but happy an athiest wrote something so touching.

  You know maybe instead of trying to convert your brother to mainstream religion....just get him to want to discover the bible and serve God on his own with no hierarchy.

  Once while still JW I was preaching and a man told me........The End WIll Come When All God's People Leave The ORGANIZED RELIGIONS.

  I didn't get what he ment then......but turn on the news and see....all faiths are abusing meek people...women...children.....mild tempered men.......all are being turned away with a lack of love from a clergy class.

  Maybe what your brother needs is just the bible and his Creator.

  Then he can choose what traditions he wishes....x-mas or not.....pleadge or not...etc.

  yesterday a freind to the exjw community decided to drop a couple of our little cards "the tuth about the wt" in appropriate places, anyway an angry jw saw it and smashed the windows of the freind...and got caught on camera doing it....baaawl...its all in the hands of the solicitors.

  the angry jw then phoned the helpline number on the card with this really makes sense message "i just want to call you an apostate, thats all i want to call you.

  JW Jackass..eh? You think someone will try and staple a tract to your butt?? (you'll have to watch Jackass reruns to get that one)

  I have never met a violent JW...still I have seen some of my friends when I was in just about foam at the mouth over the coming destruction of all the worldly people.**sheesh** I once had a very heated argument with a sister over if the death penalty was correct. She so wanted people to be turned into charred toast in the electric chair! I was shocked cause I thought we were christian.

  Still and all that has been the extent of violent behavior I have seen....just wishful violent tendancys......but, I have met some devious and sneeky ones and that is another story.

  When you make your Candid JW camera.....I so want to see it!!

  I spent too long as a JW to call you Scrooge! I hate,hate,hate X-mas....BUT...at the same time I LOVE to give to people and help people.

  I hate the whole Santa thing and all the greed.....STILL,....there are those who are in need and like it or not it is this time of year that many groups focus on giving.

  One of my fav things to do is donate to TOYS FOR TOTS....even as a JW I'd do this. I just couldn't stand the idea of children being taught this was Jesus Birthday and then not getting anything.

  Today the children and I went TOY shopping And it was FUN!! Everything was for children who would normally do with out.

  It feels good to do something for others and although the children and I try to do things all year......Now is the time different Charitys GIVE GIVE GIVE and I realy like being a part of that.

  I know it wont fix all the problems of the world.....but sometimes all it takes is a band-aid for a person to make it another year...another week....another day. Knowing that some people out there who don't even know them.......are thinking about them ,praying for them.......and realy care.

  What kind of JW was that guy anyway?!?!?!

  I have never seen such a thing and I have not been out that long. Most Brother's do things in secret not so out in the open.

  Hey....what cards.."The Truth About The Truth"...I am in U.S.A. I have never seen such cards. Someone e-mail me a scanned one...please

  Also, I am glad they are making it harder for children to be abused.....I wonder what will be done here in the U.S.. There has been some progress but, not nationwide.

  It was great seeing you ...you beautiful bundle of furrific fluff!
