.
perhaps i would.. struggeling with doubts of course, but going to the meetings and turning in 2 or 3 hours on my report every month like i used to.... what about you guys?
I had already left....but I still believed it was the truth. I just accepted the fact that I was going to die at Armegedeon any day.
Then I got the internet....Now I know it's not the truth.

i was working yesterday so i wasnt at the meeting but the speaker in his talk made comments about 1914 on several occasions and towards the end of his talk he mentioned that if any new ones in attendence didnt understand the signficance of 1914 or how we know that christ started ruling in 1914 that they were invited to ask any jw in attendence to explain these things to them and they would be happy to.
this really got my wife to thinking because as a 28 year old jw who was raised as a witness and who has always been very active in the ministry she couldnt explain 1914 or any beliefs that we have as witnesses in regards to 1914 other than things havent been the same in the world since this pivotal date.
something as simple as this comment from this speaker can be the first step into seeing the errors in the wt belief system.
What a relief....for the longest time I thought I was the only one that couldn't understand/explain so many of the JW doctines. I just accepted what I was told and hoped no one ever asked me any hard questions.
Later, I remember my sister telling me that the reason I didn't "get it" was because I didn't have Jehovah's Holy Spirit.
not just one you have seen - or even researched since leaving.
but the oldest one you recall studying when you 'got the truth' or as a child?.
i remember "let god be true" - 'babylon the great has fallen'- and 'paradise restored - paradise regained' [the big orangish/pink book - hope i got the name right] - all 50's early 60's books.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this book. This is the first one I remember. When the witness first came to our house, my dad could not read or write. So they studied with him out of this book.
LEARN TO READ AND WRITE. Anyone else remember this book?
.
are you planning to go to an apostofest in the near future?
i've met posters on 3 occasions, twice in montreal, and once in toronto.. how about you?.
I think that I've met around 80 ex's so far. It's been really great to do so. A few things stand out: LT's fiddling, Big Tex's kilt, Lisavegas' cleavage , Kents singing, Ballistics weight loss, Jst2laws resemblance to the Sherrif of Nottingham, Simon's incredible Elvis impersonation, Tracy 41's GI Jane outfit, Megadude's soccer skills, Celtic's absolute eccentricity, gawd, I could go on for ever.Englishman
Hahahahaha......that made me laugh out loud...
today, i was looking for a super soaker on ebay.
my ex girlfriend stole the other one, and i was looking to replace it.
it made me think about the time i was a kid.
My mom wouldn't let me have a Ken doll because she didn't want me to play "dating" with Barbie. Maybe she was afraid there would be hot plastic sex in the toy box at night.Nina
I forgot about Ken....wait, now that I think about it I wasn't allowed Barbie either. I don't remember why though. I did have a Skipper doll. I think she was Barbie's little sister. I don't remember the JW's having a thing about Proctor and Gamble. But my ex-mil who was Baptist wouldn't buy anything with the P&G logo on it.

We couldn't have anything that even looked like a gun. No snap guns, no water guns.
No candy cigarettes either.
But the strangest thing was no Kewpie Dolls. I was told because they have little wings on their backs, and were idols of angels....
time sure fly's.
maybe one day i will introduce myself.. it was a good day in my life when i stumbled upon this place.
thank you all for sharing your lives with me and making me feel normal.
Yeah................Happy Anniversary............

we host a discussion group in our home called the dayton salon.
our dogma is: food, wine, fellowship, and discussion.
we meet once a month and folks arrive with food to share, they fellowship in and out of the kitchen before settling down to discuss a topic (picked a month ago) in the den (we call the salon).
How did you go about starting this discussion group? How long has it been going on? And is it always at your house, or do you switch around to different houses? What kind of subjects do you talk about? I think that's all the questions I have for now...
