I may add that my first non WT books all happened to be written by reformed theologians. The funny thing is that I had no clue as to what reformed theology was all about. So I was not looking for a specific theological point of view when buying Christian literature. I just had some questions, and so it happened that the majority of the answers that satisfied my pragmatic mind were provided by reformed theologians, such as RC Sproul, Tim Keller, John Piper and others. So I have a feeling that if I decide to join a Christian church it might be a reformed one .

Thanks Renee!
Presbyterians are the least legalistic bunch EVER. As an x-jw it fits me well.
The general idea is that you reguard the day as holy but don't turn into a Pharasee over it.
That’s all I needed to hear!

Hi LV101,
That’s what I have noticed. Although I have some reservations regarding some doctrinal issues, my impression thus far is that they are a fairly balanced denomination with a rich historical background.
I just want to get an idea of what is life like as a Presbyterian…I’m still a bit hesitant about visiting a church building (I’m fading) where I could get the answer to some of my questions, but I want to get all the information I can get about this denomination.

Hello Renee,
I just have few non-theological questions (I’m already studying reformed theology on my own), they are more about the lifestyle of a Presbyterian.
Do you dance at parties?
Is there an absolute ban on the consumption of alcohol?
What do you do on the Lord’s Day after the worship service?

Thanks leavingwt.
I have come across some good Christian’s apologetic works and other bible study material….and they all seem to be written by reformed theologians, mainly Presbyterians. So I have a few questions about the reformed denominations.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Believe me…I’m really looking forward on working on making that baby…LOL, I’m so happy that at least I’ll be able to offer his/her/them a life without so many meaningless and unnecessary restrictions.
At first I thought that it was going to be a lost battle, with the WT as the victor. But at the end, honesty and integrity won. When I tried to help her see the light, I focused her attention on the human factor: “look around you, are the JW really happy”?, “listen to what’s being said from the platform, is this helping people cope? “why is everyone so depressed in the congregation?” “look at the elder’s attitude and fear mongering…is this biblical?” “why are they praying for (and almost to) the GB, why do they mention the FDS…GB so many times?” “what are we getting from going to the meetings, are we being edified or are we leaving empty, guilty…?” etc. At first I tried not to touch on any doctrinal issue nor on discrediting the Organization, that came later, naturally and on its own.
Really, she arrived to her conclusions on her own, I just gave her a little push, I opened up a very small crack that let some light shine in… and the Governing Body, the elders and the CO did the rest for me!!! (again…guys, thank you! You made this all possible). The congregations, rather than being sheepfolds are turning into a hyena packs (the elder’s and their wives, pioneers, CO, DO) and a heard of burros (and I mean no insult, just what they are turning the JWs into). Any person looking for a healthy uplifting place to serve others will soon realize that the KHs are place for that. It was not the place for her, she saw the men behind the curtain, and they were the ones that exposed themselves with their spirit that permeated into the congregations.
We are now looking forward to a good detox from all the crap that was feed to us. And again, more than joy…I feel peace.

I felt a lot peace inside when she said that to me…I knew that the struggle was over. I don’t care if she doesn’t want to celebrate certain holydays, or if she still wants to believe in some of doctrines that are unique to the JW. All that I care is that she is done with the Organization and the JWs, and that’s all that matters.
We’ll take our time to organize our life, and I’m looking forward to a normal future filled with joy, growth and freedom.
One of our first decisions was to get started on putting a little onemore in the oven

My wife said to me last night….I’m done…I’m not going back to a KH.
I have to say that the WT did it all for me. And the program at this last circuit assembly: …Not part of the World was “the final nail in the coffin”. I knew it was over when she asked me if we could celebrate the memorial at home. I was shocked!! As I planned on attending the memorial at a KH because of her. She said to me…"I’ve been doing some reading and meditating (I used her laptop the other day and I noticed that she has been visiting freeminds.org) , I can’t support an organization that uses God as bait to abuse people, and I’m tired of the worshiping of the Governing body and the Organization… I’m not going back onemore."
So…I can officially say that my last meeting as a JW was the Sunday program of the Circuit assembly…Not part of the World.
I have to give my most sincere gratitude to the people that made my wife’s exit possible: the Governing Body of the Jehovah’s Witness. Thanks for your words and actions, without them, it would have been very difficult to get my wife out of your Organization. Keep up the good work, with the direction that you are taking, more and more sincere people will keep leaving your cult. Gracias!
