We bought land!
by Aussie Oz inwe bought land!.
some of you might remember a delema i had a couple of months ago over buying a house... and gave lots of great advice.. well, we ended up buying a large block of land (modern developers would cram 8 houses on it) one hour outside the city in a really nice little town of only 250 people.
the block has an 1860 ruin on it that looks like an old school or church.

I've never understood the comparison of 12 step programs to cults.
Sure, they may be a high control group, with meetings and a sponsor, and some pressure to conform; but they are a part of society, not separate to it; and there is more freedom to join or leave.
Maybe a necessary evil- at least for a while.

Fight with wife over watching Avatar escalates to near-separation--true story

i knew it was trouble when she started looking at my kindle.
once she got to the short stories i wrote 3 years ago, autobiographical, some of it involving her, i knew i wouldn't be going to bed before 1:00 (it was 11:40 p.m. by then).

O.K. your're in a no-win situation where according to your wife and the Witnesses, you are the bad guy.
Maybe you need to stop looking at everything in terms of good/bad, right/wrong.
Ditch the morality; just do what works.

Getting my children out
by God_Delusion inmy wife is still in and no matter what logic i show her, she still wants to continue with the cult.
for me, she's a lost cause.
i explained the 607 factor and her reaction to that was "well, that isn't important to me as i still believe, plus, there's no where else for me to go.".

God_Delusion, this is just an idea, but if you can get the 1925 newspaper scans of the "Millions now living" campaign, and scans from the older publications, you might be able to convince your wife that Armageddon isn't coming any time soon, and the WTS is a fake. Might help...

perhaps you've noticed that the bible doesn't end at the beginning of the 1,000 year reign and just have the few verses in rev showing what happens at the end, but it infact goes through the entire thousand year reign in many parts of it.
for example....in rev 20:7-10 it shows how gog of magog surrounds the camp of the holy ones, then fire comes down and destroys them.

by alice.in.wonderland inhere on jehovahs-witness.net i have come across theists, atheists and those that are agnostic that all claim to be friends because they're ex-witnesses like it is all that is needed for religious unity.. .
why isn't this on the ad?.
because every atheist i've talked to believes jehovah's witnesses are just another organization of stupid adults with imaginary friends, just a splinter of mainstream christianity a lot like the branch davidians.

AIW, you hold the WTS in high esteem, and you let threads that you start be derailed & go totally off-topic without seeming to care, this would indicate you have very low self-esteem or not much personal integrity. You may need to work on this.
